During an emotional encounter, Will Smith reunited with his former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-stars.

After resolving their 27-year battle in a harrowing HBO Max special on Wednesday, the actor, 52, embraced and reconciled with Janet.

Hubert, known as “the original Aunt Viv,” quit the comedy after three seasons due to “creative differences.” The next season, she was quickly replaced by actress Daphne Maxwell Reid, with no notice of the recasting.

Since the conclusion of Fresh Prince in 1996, she and Will have openly attacked one other, with Janet calling the Hitch actor a “egomaniac” and saying he was “responsible” for her leaving, while Will said Janet wanted Fresh Prince to be the “Aunt Viv Of Bel Air.”

During the reunion special, the actress revealed that she was pregnant while filming the show’s third season and was also in an abusive relationship, which caused conflict on set. “I was no longer laughing, smiling, joking, because there were things that were going on that nobody knew about. The cast had no idea what was going on,” she explained in a solo interview.

“They offered this really bad deal in the third season. They said, ‘You’ve got two months and two weeks of work and you cannot work anywhere else.’ So that meant my salary was cut. I had a new baby and a husband who was out of work. So I said no. I did not accept their offer. I was never fired,” Hubert explained. “So the misconception was always put there. I was trapped. What could I do? They said, ‘We’re going to recast your role.’ And I said… what can I say? I was hurt deeply.”

The General Hospital star said she felt “disowned” by Hollywood and that Will had “banished” her.

Father-of-three Will responded: “During that time of her pregnancy, I wasn’t sensitive, wasn’t perceptive. Now that I’ve had three kids, I’ve learned some things I did not know at the time.

“I would do things very differently. I can see where I made the set very difficult for Janet.”

The actor stated that his experience as a parent and divorcee enabled him to “see now the level of pain and struggle that it was for you just to show up every day.” Hubert went on to describe the toll their conflict had on her career.

Janet went on to say: “You took all that away from me with your words. Words can kill. I lost everything. Reputation. Everything, everything.

“I understand you were able to move forward. You know those words – calling a Black woman ‘difficult’ in Hollywood is the kiss of death.

“It’s hard enough being a dark-skinned Black woman in this business. I felt it was necessary for us to finally move forward. And I’m sorry I have blasted you to pieces.”

He then responded, “First of all, thank you for sharing that with me. I didn’t know that, when I look back now it’s obvious that you were having a hard time and I felt like you hated me. I could not do a 30-year celebration of this show and not celebrate you, celebrate your contribution to the show, celebrate your contribution to my life.”

He added, “The person I want to be is someone who protects you, not someone that unleashes dogs on you,” before they leaned in for a an emotional hug.

“It’s so weird. We’ve said such hateful things about each other publicly and I’m sorry,” Hubert apologized, with Smith saying “I’m sorry” as well.

“We good?” Hubert inquired.

“We good,” Smith affirmed.

Janet subsequently saidd to the cameras: “I feel like this is a dream. I didn’t come here to have animosity. I came here to resolve, ’cause it’s time.”

The actress then rejoined with the other Fresh Prince cast members on the reunion set, which was a recreation of Banks’ living room.

The former Fresh Prince cast members also paid tribute to their late co-star James Avery, who portrayed Will’s on-screen Uncle Phil.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air premiered in 1990 and continued for six seasons until May 1996. Peacock has ordered a two-season order for a drama relaunch dubbed Bel-Air.
