Salma Hayek, the Gucci girl, has her own set of insecurities. During an interview with InStyle UK about her latest film, Tale of Tales, the actress spoke up about her struggles with body image and aging.

“Well I am entering my fifties so your body confidence isn’t that good,” the actress tells InStyle UK.

Hayek, who turns 50 in September, compares her everyday self-esteem to a roller coaster.

“I think it depends on the day, for everybody, there’s some days you say, ‘this is it,’ and you love it. Then there are days when you go, ‘this can not be it! Is this really it?’ So I think it’s up and down all the time!”

Hayek, 49, has previously spoken openly about her body image.

“I’m quite short. I have an overly… wavy body. I’m not like the girl next door who is easy to cast,” she added. “I don’t fit into any of the stereotypes of a woman that should continue to work. I don’t know what it is, but I don’t think it has anything to do with planning. It has something to do with karma, maybe. I believe in karma.”

Despite her bad days, Hayek, who portrays a queen in the forthcoming film, provides excellent tips on how to feel like a royal in everyday life.

“You have to get up and become your own work of art; from the moment you put yourself together,” she says. “Not that I do it! I am quite lazy in the queen department. But celebrate who you are and celebrate life, and know that this is your experience.”

Despite the fact that Hayek had the support of her “perfect” husband, François-Henri Pinault, she discovered another method to cope with the uncertainty.

“You know what I like to do? I go to the market, look at stuff and come up with a concoction in my head and then put it together,” she explained. “So there’s a chance there will be something extraordinary, but there’s a small chance it will be a disaster.”
