Although the Orlando, Florida, police investigation into the fatal shooting of singer Christina Grimmie has come to an end, several of gunman Kevin Loibl’s coworkers believe he was obsessed with the “The Voice” contestant.

According to TMZ, he would often listen to her songs and confide in his colleagues that she would one day become his wife.

The gunman, Loibl, was also found to have lived “like a hermit” at his father’s home in St. Petersburg, only leaving his room to attend to his part-time work at Best Buy.

Kevin Loibl had Lasik eye surgery, had hair transplants, even went vegan to lose weight and become too attractive for Grimmie to resist, according to the killer’s Geek Squad coworkers who spoke to TMZ.

And his closest buddy admitted to the authorities that he often watched the singer’s videos and browsed her social media in his leisure time.

He once admitted to them that he attended one of her gigs in March and made a suggestion that he may have run into her there. Additionally, he said that he played online games with Grimmie, which was false, a source informed TMZ.

But when he found out she had a boyfriend, he reportedly grew enraged and shot her.

Loibl is from St. Petersburg, Florida. On the day of the murder, he reportedly left the following message on his door:

“Deepest sorrow for the losst to the family, friends and fans of the very talented, loving Christina Grimmie. No other comments ”

The Season 6 Voice candidate, 22, was shot and murdered by Loibl, 27, following her performance in Orlando on June 10. Marcus, the singer’s brother, tackled the shooter, who later killed himself.

Police were informed by Loibl’s father that the murderer had never been given a mental illness diagnosis or made any mention of his crush on Grimmie. According to Kris Mohandie, a clinical, police, and forensic psychologist with more than 20 years of experience, the popularity of social media encourages some people to become unnaturally fixated on their favorite subjects.

“There is all this social networking stuff that is happening right now and to an unstable person that can really complicate into them thinking they do have a relationship with this person,” Mohandie said. “They read more into it because of their misperceptions.”

Later that evening, the singer passed away in a nearby hospital.

Although Loibl had no prior offences, St. Petersburg police were called to the family’s residence in 2014 as a result of a domestic dispute between Loibl and his father’s girlfriend, according to the report.

Loibl, 27, lawfully acquired the two firearms he was found to be in possession of after the murder-suicide only days before shooting Grimmie as she signed autographs after one of her performances.

Members of Grimmie’s family and supporters gathered in her hometown of Evesham Township, New Jersey. A funeral service for the late singer will take place on Friday At the Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, New Jersey.

During the vigil, Marcus spoke candidly about the tragedy. “Christina was awesome. She loved this town, she loved this state, she loved singing, she loved the Lord and she loved me. She was my baby sister,” he said at the time. “The tragedy that took place was at a free meet-and-greet postshow. I missed the first glimpse, but witnesses say she was arms open wide [to the shooter]. She had no idea and she treated everybody the same.”
