Salma Hayek believes that women have the right to change their bodies, but she doesn’t like plastic surgery looks.

In the September issue of Allure, Hayek, 44, writes that while she recognizes women’s desire to delay the onset of aging, she believes that rather than being created by a doctor, beauty should be brought out and enhanced.

The 44-year-old actress says, “I believe that every woman is entitled to fight to preserve her youth.”

“[Plastic surgery is] like the uniform of a generation. And it’s not necessarily beautiful. It’s not wrinkled-looking, but it’s not beautiful.”

The Oscar nominee freely acknowledges the effects of aging. She laughs when asked which part of her body she thinks looked better ten years ago and says, “My b–bs. They’re not bad, by the way. I’m not complaining about them.”

She claims that part of the reason why she exudes youthfulness is because she has used “creams” all of her life. She even started a beauty line this summer called Nuance, which pays a lot of homage to her grandmother, who studied to be a beautician.

“She started working on my skin when I was 12 or 13,” said Hayek. “I never used soap on my face. Once, she shaved our heads and put egg on it and all these things. But I have to give her credit – my hair is great.”

Ageing, according to Hayek, need not be a bad thing. She continued, “Within you there is beauty, and you have to learn how to find it and enhance it in a natural way. One exciting thing about being a woman is that you can rediscover your beauty over and over and over.”

She adds that women have another benefit as they age: they can become sexier.

“As a woman, you should be more at ease with your sexuality when you are in your 40s,” she states. “You are more self-assured about that part. And that’s the way it should be. If you are a girl who cannot walk in heels, it doesn’t matter how beautiful you are. If you look like a chicken that’s been spiked in the feet, it’s not going to be sexy.”

Hayek is in the process of launching a skincare line called Nuance that will be sold at the CVS pharmacy chain. Hayek voices a role in the upcoming Shrek feature film spinoff Puss in Boots.

According to Fox News, she says, “I’m [creating these products] with the philosophy that within you there is beauty, and you have to learn how to find it and enhance it in a natural way.” One exciting aspect of being a woman is the ability to continually rediscover your beauty.

She recently acknowledged that she frequently feels worn out from juggling her career with raising her 3-year-old daughter Valentina.
