Meryl Streep, an Oscar winner, is pleased that both of her daughters have chosen acting careers.

According to Contactmusic, the 65-year-old actress realizes that living up to her own accomplishments and achievements is a “burden” for Gracie and Mamie Gummer.

“I’m so proud of Gracie and of Mamie, who were willing to follow in their mother’s profession despite all the pressure and attention that comes of being Meryl Streep’s daughters.”

“They’re very strong-willed and determined young women. I only want them to be happy in life and I’m very supportive of their work because they made the decision knowing they would always have to deal with that added burden,” she stated.

Meryl Streep Says She Watches ‘Real Housewives’

Meryl Streep watches the Real Housewives.

In a group Zoom interview with the actors of Netflix’s smash film Don’t Look Up, which satirizes the government’s reaction to climate change, the 72-year-old actress admitted that she watches the Beverly Hills iteration of the Bravo franchise.

According to People Magazine, Streep said in an interview that many people, including herself, have “a desire to escape” overwhelming or terrible news at times.

“It’s life… it’s right now. It’s happening right now. And what do I do? I go in and watch ‘The Housewives of Beverly Hills’. I do that,” she explained.

Jennifer Lawrence, Streep’s co-star, was genuinely surprised and happy upon hearing the news.

“When I saw the film, I was just blown away, and I said [to Adam McKay], ‘Give me a checklist. Give me the first three things we have to do,’” she continued.

“It’s so energizing in a weird way, this film, because you come out and you go, ‘OK now. F–k it. This is what we have to pay attention to. It all flows from this. If we don’t survive, we won’t be able to watch Housewives or whatever. We won’t have our lives and our children and everything we value and love,’ ” she stated.

Despite the emotional toll that a global catastrophe can have on a person’s mental health, Streep believes the film’s message is vital and that it will help open some eyes.

“We constantly live in this dual reality where God gave us the ability to know what’s happening and also the desire to escape it. So, what the film does is — sometimes a joke goes in better and more clearly than someone haranguing you with some message,” Streep explained.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence star as two astronomers in Don’t Look Up, which also stars Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Tyler Perry, Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, and others.
