Taylor Lautner, the Twilight star, is believed to have stated that he will not simply remove his shirt for the sake of it.

After bulking up particularly for the role, the kid flaunted his sculpted pectoral muscles in a number of sequences for The Twilight Saga: New Moon last year.

But when Lautner was requested to strip for his parts as Willy Harrinton, a high school student in the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day,” he declined since he only strips when the script requires it.

Lautner states in the July edition of GQ that “Originally I was supposed to take off my shirt [in ‘Valentine’s Day’]. The script said we were walking into school and ‘Willy takes off his shirt.’ I said, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa. Time out. He’s gonna take off his shirt in the middle of school? No, no, no.'”

However, Lautner adds that if it fits into the plot of a film, he doesn’t mind flaunting his figure.

“The reason I took off my shirt for New Moon is because it’s written in the book that way,” Lautner explains. “And there’s reasons behind it.”

Lautner worked especially hard to achieve and maintain that body in the first place, and he told GQ readers how he kept himself motivated throughout workouts. He remembered, “I’m in the gym, and I’m doing reps, and I’m reading the books, and I’m studying the character. I’m just saying to myself, ‘I want this role. I love this role. I’m not gonna lose it. And I’m gonna know it better than anybody. And I’m gonna do that extra rep, because I’m gonna be Jacob Black.’ ”

Lautner, who has been connected to Taylor Swift in recent months, signed a $7.5 million deal to portray Stretch Armstrong and routinely rubs shoulders with Hollywood heavyweights such as Will Smith and Robert Downey Jr.

Lautner’s co-star Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) previously revealed that kissing him on television was “hard” yet enjoyable because their characters seldom share personal moments.

I thought, ‘This was something that they rehearsed.’ I was enjoying the show! But then Taylor turned around and I saw her face.”

The 18-year-old also discusses what it was like to accept an award alongside Kristen Stewart at the Oscars and how he responded when Kanye West interrupted then-girlfriend Taylor Swift at the VMAs.

“I was standing behind [Taylor] as it was happening, and 100 percent I was sure it was staged!” Lautner elaborated. “I thought, ‘This was something that they rehearsed.’ I was enjoying the show! But then Taylor turned around and I saw her face.”

Lautner’s next film is The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which will be released on June 30 in the United States and July 8 in the United Kingdom.
