Matty Healy, the frontman of The 1975, appeared to apologize to his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift during a concert in Dublin, just days after their breakup.
The couple had a whirlwind romance and were seen together at several of Taylor’s concerts during her Eras tour in the United States.
During the gig held at St Anne’s Park, Matty spray-painted “Sorry?”
in bold letters on a banner that formed part of the stage’s backdrop.
His bandmate, Jamie Squire, was simultaneously singing a cover of Leon Russell’s “A Song For You”.
Later on, Matty performed a solo acoustic set, however, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol as he made a couple of musical errors.
After downing several pints of Guinness, he addressed the crowd with a glass in hand, saying: “It is not even normal, it is just because it is so nice.
But you drink so much of it like it is some kind of milk that then you forget the songs so I came in at the wrong time then.”
His two other bandmates, drummer George Daniel and guitarist Adam Hann, looked concerned for their singer as they exchanged whispers while he floundered around the stage.
Prior to reports of their breakup, it was rumored that Matty saw his relationship with Taylor as serious and had plans to settle down and have children with her.
A source claimed that Matty was telling everyone about their long-term future, assuming everything worked out.
However, Taylor’s friends believed that it was just a rebound relationship that had the potential for something more.
The same source further claimed that Matty was trying to play things coy in public but that he wasn’t holding back when talking about it with his loved ones.
He was letting them know how smitten he was and that it was the most serious he had been about a relationship in an extremely long time, if ever.
The couple split last week, which came as a surprise to many of their fans.
Taylor had just broken up with her long-term boyfriend Joe Alwyn before starting a relationship with Matty.
Their relationship seemed to have started quickly, and the pair was spotted together at several concerts in the United States.
It is unclear what caused the split, but Matty’s on-stage apology has led some to speculate that he may have done something to hurt Taylor.
