Bill Murray has struck once again.

Actor Bill Murray, known for his public antics, had an unexpected music in New York City.

Bill Murray performed a surprise recital of songs from Porgy and Bess’ “It Ain’t Necessarily So” and West Side Story’s “America” and “I Feel Pretty” in a frigid Washington Square Park on Wednesday.

For the concert, the 71-year-old comic joined up with his frequent accompanists, cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang, and pianist Vanessa Perez.

Murray also performed a theatrical reading of Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s beat poem “Dog” in front of a gathering throng.

Heller posted video of Murray’s performance on Instagram. The Ghostbusters actor can be seen prepping for his unexpected performance in one video. “I’m gonna put the mask on, I’m gonna try to be as subtle as I can,” he says.

Murray gleefully played “I Feel Pretty” for the enormous throng gathering in front of him in another footage. “See the pretty girl in that mirror there? Who can that attractive girl be? / Such a pretty face, such a pretty dress / Such a pretty smile, such a pretty me!” he sang.

Former “Real Housewife” Carole Radziwill, who looked stunning in a silver ski jacket, and novelist and former Bronx detective Edward Conlon were among those who watched the “Groundhog Day” star’s performance.

There were also Elizabeth Callender, Jane McGrath, and Karen Duffy, the producer of Andrew Muscato’s documentary “New Worlds,” about Murray’s performance on the Acropolis in Athens.

Murray was on fire until the cops shut him off in the middle of his performance. Murray said, “The cops say we have to turn off the microphones. Let’s rip this place apart!”

Murray’s spontaneous performance was appreciated by followers on social media. “Protect him at all cost[s]. He’s a ray of sunshine,” one admirer remarked, while another added, “He is what we needed today.”

Murray has been promoting his new film, New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization, in which he co-stars with the legendary Vogler in a performance. The documentary was shot during their 2018 Acropolis of Athens concert and shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021. The event, which will be shown in cinemas on February 2, will comprise Murray’s versions of songs and poetry that he performed in Washington Square Park on Wednesday.

Murray is most known for his roles in Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” While he has been confirmed for the next installment of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp” franchise, fans were surprised to learn recently that it won’t be his first time in the Marvel universe: in 1975, he voiced the Human Torch in a short-lived radio program based on the heroes.

Murray’s impromptu stunt wasn’t his first. He sung Rolling Stones songs while bartending in Brooklyn in 2016, and then held a White House news conference regarding the Chicago Cubs’ World Series chances. He’s been known to crash to bachelor parties and engagement photoshoots on occasion.
