Joesph Baena is speaking out about his relationship with his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On the Unwaxed podcast on January 17, Joseph was asked to describe what it’s like to introduce a girlfriend to a father like Arnold. As it turns out, California’s former governor is more than welcome.

“I just have to point out that with my relationship with my dad, it took a little while for me and him to get really close and just [feel like] I can joke around with him and talk about anything,” Baena said.

Arnold had Joseph with family housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena while still married to Maria Shriver, it was disclosed in 2011. When Maria learned about the affair, the two broke up.

“I grew up with my mom and I was always nervous and I didn’t want him to think bad of me and be like, ‘What the heck is this guy doing? He’s just partying all the time,'” Baena said. “Now it’s like awesome. I’m so close to my dad and we joke about everything.”

Schwarzenegger, according to Baena, “always wants to hear about the drama. He’s like, ‘Tell me everything, tell me about the drama, tell me about the girls.’”

The young actor went on to say, “Introducing the girls to him has been great because he’s outgoing. He’s so casual with it. Whenever I’ve brought a girl over for dinner or something, we’ve always dressed not like super nice, but just dressed up a little and he’s in his sweats. He’s like, ‘What are you guys dressed up for?'”

Baena also revealed that his father gives relatively “generic” dating advise and that his father’s sense of humor makes bringing the ladies he dates around a lot easier.

Baena, who has just recently started his acting career, also explained why he didn’t take his renowned father’s last name.

“I never had the Schwarzenegger name. I think really the thing is that I haven’t focused on changing it,” he revealed. “I’m doing my own thing. I haven’t thought of it that much. I have a last name already. I’m already doing so much and succeeding and moving forward with my goals. That’s the last thing on my mind.”
