Tom Hanks rated his top three films over the course of his nearly 40-year career in Hollywood.

During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, the celebrity defined his “favorite” picks as the projects on which he has had the best personal experience working, rather than “the way the movies came out.”

The 65-year-old went on to say that one of his favorite films is Cloud Atlas, which he said was “shot on a hope and a dream and nothing but a circle of love.”

“It was the first time I’d ever shot extensively in Germany and I was surrounded by history,” Hanks explained.

“But the work itself, we were part of this big, massive ensemble of fantastic people who were just trying to do the hardest, best work on a deep throw that making it was magical,” he said.

Baseball-themed film A League Of Their Own made the list because Tom Hanks got to play baseball for the whole summer while filming.

Trending:

“I shagged flies. I ate turkey dogs. I took infield with (co-star) Robin Knight and a ton of other people. I played baseball all summer long in Evansville, Indiana, and in Wrigley Field. There was a day of doing that.”

It was especially noteworthy for the two-time Academy Award winner since his family was present throughout the production.

“It was a great summer and my entire family still speaks about it,” he said.

Finally, Hanks revealed that his Oscar-nominated performance as a lone man urgently attempting to flee an isolated island in “Cast Away” was full of “bold adventures.”

He said: “We just had bold adventures when making that movie.”

He continued: “We were out in the middle of the ocean trying to grab shots. We were out in Fiji and my whole family was with me,” he added. “Nothing but adventures every single day.”

The volleyball featured in the film, which Hanks’ character named Wilson, has set a new auction record by selling for £230,000.

On Tuesday, the film prop was auctioned off on Prop Store. It was expected to bring in between £40,000 and £60,000.

Hanks, 65, is one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood, having won two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards throughout the course of his career.
