Tom Hanks has retaliated after his picture was used in a spoof advertisement for a CBD firm that has been circulating online.

The commercial presented Hanks as a consumer of the product Cannapro CBD, according to the screenshot posted by the actor.

“The advances Dr. Oz has made in the CBD industry are remarkable,” the ad said. “I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t had the chance to try it out for myself. After using CannaPro CBD for two weeks I was already feeling like a new me.”

Hanks responded to social media on Monday to clarify that he never said such and that he does not support the “CANNAPRO CBD” product.

He commented on Instagram, “This is a fake and intentional hoax. I’ve never said this and would never make such an endorsement. Come on, man! Hanx!”

The message drew a lot of attention from Hanks’ fans.

One reviewer remarked, “As if Tom Hanks needs to ‘feel like a new him.’ HE’S TOM HANKS!”

“This is gold,” another said, “Hanks 1, Hoax 0.”

Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was featured in the bogus endorsement as a supporter, also acknowledged that the commercial was fraudulent and defended Hanks on social media.

The television celebrity tweeted, “Could not agree more with @tomhanks. This is a fake and misleading advertisement intended to take advantage of consumers using false claims and our likenesses illegally.”

“I’m not involved with any cannabis companies,” Oz, 59, said.

Oz slammed similar phony endorsements for keto and diet pills, as well as anti-aging treatments, in a video released in December.

“These ads are made by con artists. They are scamming us, using our images illegally,” Oz remarked in the video. “And they’re scamming you, taking your hard earned money.”

He went on to say that the con artists earn millions of dollars a year and that their wares might be deadly.

“Most importantly, they could be putting your health at risk,” he said.

Apart from these phony endorsements, Hanks has other things on his mind. For example, he’s up for an Academy Award in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category for his role in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which is his first nomination in in two decades. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal in the 2000 film Cast Away in the category of Best Actor in a Leading Role.
