Chris Pratt says he went to bed “upset” and “depressed” after being chastised for complimenting his wife for giving him a “healthy” daughter.

Pratt, 42, dedicated a post to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt on Instagram on Tuesday, saying, “Guys. For real. Look how she’s looking at me! I mean. Find you somebody that looks at you like that!! You know!? We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes i put in my ear buds to drown it out, but that’s love!”

Fans swiftly pointed out that the actor’s firstborn son with ex-wife Anna Faris, 9-year-old Jack, suffers from a variety of health challenges as a result of his early birth, accusing him of using his children to pit his wife against his former partner.

One Twitter user said, “Chris Pratt bragging about his ‘healthy daughter’ despite having a preemie son with several health problems makes me want to punch a wall.”

Another user said, “Chris Pratt is a horrible human being. He has beautiful young boy and is praising his new wife for giving him a daughter without health issues knowing his son with Anna Farris has had health issues since birth.”

Many other commentators slammed his remark as ableist, misogynistic, and frigid, and Pratt seems to have gotten the message. The actor told his 33.4 million Instagram followers that he “went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed” and “woke up feeling crappy,” not wanting to work out, in an early Friday, Nov. 5 Instagram story.

He added, “I knew that if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out of the woods and ran that I’d feel better but I just didn’t want to and I did it anyways and gosh was I right. It felt amazing. I got out of the woods, got my blood pumping.”

After that, the actor admits to getting tearful. “That moment,” he said, “it really captured me and so I just want to say, all glory to God.”

“It felt like there was another in the fire standing next to me.”

“If you feel down today, maybe get in an exercise and maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in cause it really helped me this morning,” he said in his post.

In August 2017, Pratt and Faris divorced, although they continued to co-parent their son, who was born with significant brain bleeding. Jack had “a few hernia surgeries,” “a few eye surgeries,” and “had a little heart issue” in his early years, according to Faris, who revealed this to Jimmy Kimmel in 2018.

“You never wonder if you’ll get to hold your son right after you have a healthy pregnancy,” Faris, who just married cinematographer Michael Barrett, wrote in her 2017 memoir, Unqualified. “I was in complete shock. … So Chris and I did what we could, which was hold hands and hope and face it together.” Pratt also said that Jack’s early health troubles drew them closer together, and that he adorned her hospital room with posters and photographs, and dropped by with sweets every night after work. “It felt like us against the world,” Faris continued.

In a speech at a March of Dimes event in 2014, Pratt discussed Jack’s early challenges, and talked about “Watching that 3-pound, 12-ounce newborn transform into a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy.”

Since Pratt’s remarks, people on social media have shown support for Faris while labelling Chris “gross” and “insensitive.”

People need to get over themselves. Stating that he had a beautiful healthy daughter in no way belittled his son nor did it set up a comparison to his ex wife. Just another example of twisting what has been said to fit their own agenda. People divorce and remarry all the time. Being happy and wanting to share that happiness does not take away any thing from his son or ex wife.
