A new Hollywood wage survey has revealed a significant gender pay discrepancy for the upcoming Jurassic World sequel.

According to a report on Hollywood pay, Chris Pratt was paid $2 million (£1.47 million) more for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom than his co-star Bryce Dallas Howard.

Pratt got $10 million (just over £7 million) for his part as Owen Grady in the upcoming Fallen Kingdom sequel, according to Variety.

It may not seem like a huge thing because, after all, they both made millions of dollars (which is a lot more than we’ll ever make in our lives), but keep in mind that Bryce put in the same amount of effort as Chris in this film.

While Pratt is the greater celebrity thanks to his appearances in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War, there’s no disputing that the two have been given equal billing for the sequel, which will undoubtedly capitalize on the success of the first.

The first movie was a box office smash, among the most successful of the decade, earning $1.6 billion (£1.17bn) in 2015.

Fans have since been split of the findings with some declaring that they should be paid the same if they were on equal billing in the film.

One wrote: “Bryce Dallas Howard was as much the lead of the first Jurassic World movie as anyone else, it’s not unreasonable to expect her to be paid as much as Chris Pratt.”

Another posted: “Agents and Managers need to be held accountable for the disparity in what male and female actors are paid. #fireyouragent because they KNOW what the male actors on their rosters are getting paid for comparable roles #showmethemoney.”

One said: “People are agitating for Bryce Dallas-Howard to be paid the same as Chris Pratt for the Jurassic Park movies.

The major attraction is Chris Pratt, not to mention the “spectacle.” I doubt anyone would mind if Bryce wasn’t in the sequel, but they would if Chris wasn’t.”

Meanwhile another wrote: “Chris Pratt is a big star, Bryce is not, I have many collected many of Chris Pratt’s movies on DVD, I cannot even name one previous movie of Bryce Dallas Howard.”

‘Chris Pratt is paid 2 million more than Bryce Dallas Howard for the new Jurassic world. It has nothing to do with gender, if the actor/actress brings in a larger audience they get more money,’ said another fan.

J.A. Bayona, a Spanish director, deconstructed the events of the sequel’s first complete trailer, which featured Jeff Goldblum’s return, a volcanic explosion, and a buffet of dinosaurs.

The film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be released on June 7th, 2018.

Daniel Craig will make a stunning $25 million for the as-yet untitled next Bond film, according to the source, while Anne Hathaway will earn $15 million for her major part in the upcoming Barbie film.

According to the report, Robert Downey Jr received a staggering $10 million (£7.36 million) for his cameo part in Spider-Man: Homecoming, a film in which he appears for only eight minutes.

Jennifer Lawrence is also one of the highest-paid women in the film, getting $15 million (£11 million) for her role in Red Sparrow in 2020.

The news comes after Benedict Cumberbatch stated that he would boycott future projects until women were paid equally to males.

Patty Jenkins will be paid three times as much for the DC sequel as she was for Wonder Woman, with a compensation of $9 million.

“You’re of course aware of the money,” she told Variety last year. “But I’ve never been more aware of a duty than I was in this deal. I was extremely aware that I had to make sure I was being paid what the male equivalent would be.

“Women who have not been in a system that allows them to build up the same level of pay as men are not able to be paid the same as men forever if that’s the way it continues.

“You have to ask for it to happen, and you have to ask when you’re the appropriate person.”
