The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is betting big on oat milk.

The Duchess of Sussex made her first public investment in Clevr Blends, an American women-led company that creates quick oat milk lattes with adaptogens, superfoods, probiotics, and other wellness-y ingredients.

It’s the start of Meghan’s career as an investor, with an emphasis on helping female-founded businesses.

The company claims that its goods are environmentally friendly, ethically sourced, and healthy.

In a statement to Fortune, Markle said, “This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritizes building community alongside her business.” “I’m proud to invest in [cofounder and CEO] Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and [that] has a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her, and I believe in her company.”

The Duchess of Sussex also sent Oprah Winfrey a gift basket including the items.

‘On the first day of Christmas my neighbor ‘M’ sent to me…a basket of deliciousness!’ wrote Winfrey. ’

‘(Yes that M),’ followed by a crown emoji,’ she said.

She went on to compliment the brand, saying, ‘My new drink of choice for the morning and night. Wish I had @clevrblends sooner cause I would’ve added it to my Favorite Things list. #HappyHolidays.’

According to the company’s website, Clevr Brands, which began as a pop-up coffee shop, utilizes only organic or non-GMO products. Furthermore, the company’s shipping materials are all 100 percent post-consumer recycled and recyclable. According to the company’s website, it emphasizes “working with smaller, family run ingredient suppliers or those with more transparent supply chains.”

The duchess got interested in the business after tasting its goods at a coffee pop-up shop, according to Fortune, and the current financing is her first public investment.

“Entrepreneurs need funding, but they also need advisers who care deeply about what they are building. I’m grateful to have found both in the Duchess of Sussex,” Mendoza told Fortune. “Her passion for what we’re creating is palpable, and I couldn’t imagine a more aligned partnership. We’re excited for the road ahead.”

Meghan, who signed a multimillion-pound contract with Netflix earlier this year, is starting to develop an investing portfolio, and her participation with Clevr Blends is the first to be made public.

The value of the investment was not disclosed by Markle and Clevr.

The money will be used to help the firm “scale its business,” according to the company.

In the food and beverage business, oat milk has been a huge hit. Plant-based dairy alternatives have seen a surge in popularity in recent years, which increased during the Covid-19 epidemic. It’s also a trendy investment. Oprah Winfrey and Natalie Portman were among the investors who put $200 million into the oat milk startup Oatly in July.

Clevr Blends already ships to Canada, and lower prices are on the way, according to the website.
