After nearly a year together, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas have called it quits.

“Ben is no longer dating Ana,” a source said. “She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles.”

“This is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable,” says another person close to Affleck and de Armas. “They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there. Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up and he’s a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives.”

According to Us Weekly, the “amicable” separation was the result of Armas and Affleck “moving in different directions.” “The breakup was amicable, [but] she was the one who called things off,” the insider said. “Ben and Ana were moving in different directions in their lives and stopped seeing eye to eye. The two couldn’t work through their differences and have decided to end their relationship.”

Affleck, 48, and de Armas, 32, had been dating since early March 2020, when they were spotted on a trip to her native Cuba. They then went on a romantic getaway to Costa Rica before returning to Los Angeles.

“Ben and Ana had a great time in Havana,” a source told People at the time. “Ana was his tour guide and took him to all her favorite places. Ben seemed to love the trip. He was in a great mood and very friendly. He was approached by fans multiple times and happily posed for pictures. They visited several restaurants and enjoyed Cuban cuisine.”

During the summer, Affleck and de Armas were regularly spotted together while they both spent the quarantine time in Los Angeles. The Knives Out actress revealed their romance on Instagram in April, when she posted photographs of them celebrating her 32nd birthday together.

They allegedly spent time in Georgia in June with Ben’s mother, Christine, and his three children, whom he shares with Jennifer Garner.

“They are spending a few days in Georgia with Ben’s kids. It’s a low-key vacation,” the insider told People at the time. “Ana seems to love being around his kids. Everyone has been getting along great. Ana is making an effort to get to know his kids.”

In the late summer, the two also moved in together. De Armas was seen transporting her belongings from her Venice, California, house to Affleck’s Los Angeles home in August. A source previously revealed to PEOPLE that she had listed her Venice, California, property for sale.

“She had a huge grin and seemed very excited about living with Affleck,” a source stated at the time.

Affleck appears to be adjusting his priorities and putting romance on the back burner. According to a source, “Ben has been quiet lately. He’s been working on writing his next movie since October, so he’s hunkered down on that .” He may also be devoting more time to being a father; his new property, nicknamed a “dad pad” by The Sun, features a pool, trampoline, playhouse, outdoor ping-pong table, and premium swing set.

Despite their separation, a source told Entertainment Tonight that the two still have “a lot of love and respect for each other,” so fans shouldn’t expect any bad blood between them.

“Ben and Ana have split up and Ben is single,” the insider said. “They had little arguments and bickered like any couple but ultimately the relationship just wasn’t working in the way they both wanted it to anymore. This was a mutual decision. They both have a lot of love and respect for each other, but it was time for them to move on. At the end of the day he chose to be the dad he continues to want to be. Unfortunately they are in different places in their lives.”

The move occurred shortly after de Armas celebrated Affleck’s birthday by presenting him a bespoke BMW motorbike constructed from the ground up for him by WYLD Garage Co. and uploading a cute photo of the two on Instagram.
