Actress Ana de Armas has revealed that the media attention surrounding her high-profile relationship with actor Ben Affleck was a major factor in her decision to leave Los Angeles.

In an interview with Elle, de Armas said that the constant scrutiny was “horrible” and made her feel like there was “no escape” or “no way out.”

The 34-year-old actress, who is originally from Cuba and began her acting career in Spain, only moved to Los Angeles when she was 26.

She rose to fame in the US after starring in the Oscar-nominated film “Knives Out,” which was released in 2019.

De Armas and Affleck met in 2019 while filming the Hulu thriller “Deep Water,” which was set to premiere in 2020.

Their relationship received widespread coverage from the media, with Affleck even appearing on de Armas’s Instagram account, which has since been deleted.

By spring 2020, the couple was quarantining together and going on public displays of affection during walks.

In May of that year, de Armas had already met Affleck’s children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, and they purchased a lifesize cutout of her to display on their dad’s lawn.

For Affleck’s 48th birthday in August, de Armas reportedly bought him a custom motorcycle.

However, by November 2020, the couple had resumed filming “Deep Water,” and their relationship ended by January 2021.

Rumors at the time suggested that de Armas’s dislike of Los Angeles may have played a role in the breakup.

In her recent interview with Elle, de Armas described the city as a place that can make people feel like they need something that they “don’t have” or that “something’s missing.”

She said, “It’s a city that keeps you anxious.”

De Armas is now dating Tinder executive Paul Boukadakis and is living with him in an apartment in New York.
