Zendaya can do anything she wants! The former Disney Channel star opened up about not being held back by other people’s expectations of her.

The Small Foot Voice star recently spoke up about how she balances her busy work schedule and how she handles herself in front of the camera in a recent interview with Allure’s December 2019/January 2020 issue! She hates the phrase: ‘You can’t do it all’

“It makes me mad,” Zendaya, 23, told the magazine, “I don’t like the idea that you have to box yourself in or stay in one lane. Why wouldn’t I want to try to make the most of my talents and my gifts while I can?”

On taking a stand in the face of social injustice: “I want to be a part of the change. It’s important that creatives of all races, if they have an opportunity or platform, use it to make room for other people.”

Zendaya has continued to make gains in the industry since leaving her Disney Channel productions. She played Michelle “MJ” Jones in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man trilogy, finished second on the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars, and released a self-titled first solo album in 2013. She even designed the Tommy x Zendaya line for Tommy Hilfiger and Daya by Zendaya using her fashion experience.

Her performance in HBO’s adolescent drama Euphoria is generating a lot of buzz for all the right reasons.

Rue, a high school student experiencing the ups and downs of her adolescent years while battling her drug misuse difficulties, is played by the K.C. Undercover graduate in the popular series.

“Somehow Rue [her character in the HBO series] felt very natural to me. She didn’t feel like a huge — watch it, that looks funny.” She continued: “Rue just seemed so much like me,” she says. Even though much of the inspiration for Rue comes from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson’s own experiences of getting sober, Zendaya says it’s their matching idiosyncrasies — she calls him her long-lost twin — that enable her to easily adopt the role. “Sam and I are so similar — the way we talk, the foods we like,” she says. “We like Cool Ranch Doritos and lemon-lime Gatorade. We find ourselves sitting the same way.”

Zendaya has also starred in a number of big-budget films, including The Spiderman franchise, for which she has received critical acclaim. The young star appears to have a long way to go, but she will undoubtedly do it all since she believes in hard work and perseverance.

Yara Shahidi, who conducted the interview for a 2017 Glamour piece on Zendaya, praised the fellow actress in the story’s intro for her ability to try her hand at anything.

“What I love about my friend Zendaya is that you cannot categorize her,” the 19-year-old Shahidi tweeted. “She is a true creative. Within her acting world, no two characters are the same. As an entrepreneur, a talented musician, and a ridiculously fierce dancer, she is focused and driven.”
