The Kardashian-Jenners are entering the resale market.

The closet doors open at 9 a.m. PST on Friday. Through Kardashian Kloset, the Kardashian-Jenner family’s new luxury resale enterprise, fans will be able to purchase around 250 pre-owned items directly from Kris Jenner’s and her daughters’ wardrobes. Initially, the e-commerce site will exclusively sell Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian West, and Kylie Jenner’s belongings. Weekly releases of pre-owned apparel and accessories, including handbags, shoes, sunglasses, and jewelry, will be released.

They are one of the most well-known families in the world, with one of the longest-running reality television series in history and a combined net worth of billions of dollars. Kylie Jenner is on course to become the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, surpassing even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who made billions at the age of 23, while her sister Kim Kardashian’s Instagram account has just under 150 million followers. We assumed they had plenty on their plate. However, as the name of the reality program suggests, they appear to be ‘keeping up with’ the ever-changing fashion business, this time branching out into sustainability by recycling their clothes.

Sold tags appeared on a $700 Givenchy shirt owned by Kim Kardashian West, a $595 Fendi logo tunic owned by Kris Jenner, and a $1,000 Gucci diaper bag owned by Kylie Jenner.

The Kardashian-Jenners have previously been involved in a number of business endeavors, including Kylie Jenner’s beauty line, Kylie Cosmetics, and Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear line, Skims, which was rebranded and relaunched earlier this month after reaction from critics.

“In the United States, resale is the hottest ticket now, it’s the thing to do,” says Cynthia Bussey, Kris Jenner’s cousin and a regular character on the family reality TV program Keeping Up with the Kardashians, who worked closely with Jenner on the launch of Kardashian Kloset.

While the reselling idea is identical to that of any other second-hand store on the high street, it goes without saying that these are some of the world’s most sought and exclusive wardrobes. Elite shops such as Harrods have already experimented with the second-hand designer market, with the ‘Fashion re-told’ pre-loved clothing store opening in London’s Marylebone earlier this year. Vestiare Collective has grown to become one of the most popular online resale sites for designer clothing, with a global community of over 7 million members in 50 European countries.

Secondhand shopping has become quite popular in recent years. It’s viewed as smart and sustainable, and it’s all part of the treasure hunt for one-of-a-kind looks. According to ThredUp, an online consignment and thrift company that prepares an annual study on the resale sector, one out of every three women purchased secondhand in 2017. According to retail analytics firm GlobalData, secondhand clothing sales are anticipated to surpass $28 billion this year. Secondhand products are expected to exceed fast fashion—the moniker for quickly-made, low-cost clothing that critics claim cause significant environmental waste—within a decade.

On Sunday, Kris Jenner announced the store’s opening on Instagram, saying, “Our new fabulous online store, @KardashianKloset is coming soon! For the first time you’ll be able to shop items directly from our closets. Stay tuned for all the details and launch date and follow @kardashiankloset on Instagram for more! Can’t wait….. Love you guys!”

Kardashian Kloset, like Kylie Lip Kit, KKW Beauty, and Kylie Skin, was introduced on Instagram, where the Kardashian-Jenners have a combined following of over 660 million people. Future product releases will be announced in the same manner. The initial drop’s prices will appeal to both aspirational and luxury buyers, with products ranging from $20 to $9,000.

So far, just a few sneak glimpses have been released, with the Kardashian Kloset Instagram account coming live just a few days ago.

Kylie Jenner’s shoe line had already been teased as part of the Kloset collection, in this Instagram picture titled “shoe heaven.”

Kardashian Kloset is stuffed with fantasy: full-length minks, goat hair vests, thigh-high boots, and glittering tuxedos. “Fits like a small,” for example, is an example of approximate sizing. There are no returns or exchanges. Kris Jenner, the matriarch, debuted the company on Instagram this week, gaining over 47,000 followers in only a few days. Jenner’s has the majority of the stock.

According to a research by online resale platform ThredUp, the resale sector is anticipated to reach $51 billion by 2023. Online marketplaces such as StockX, Stadium Goods, and The RealReal make it easier to resell premium and designer products.
