Matt Damon is no stranger to appearing in cameo roles in films. Consider films like ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ ‘EuroTrip,’ and, possibly, ‘Interstellar,’ in which his character was totally absent from any of the promotional material. Damon, it turns out, also appeared in ‘Deadpool 2’, just like Brad Pitt.

However, prosthetics and low lighting completely mask the actor’s movie-star good looks in this new film. So don’t worry if you missed Damon’s appearance, you’re not alone.

The fact that he’s credited as “Dickie Greenleaf,” doesn’t help matters, though devotees of the actor’s work will know the name from his part in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

He was the one who demonstrated how to wipe correctly after using the restroom.

Despite the fact that Damon does not appear in any scenes with Ryan Reynolds, he does interact with Josh Brolin’s Cable, who meets Damon’s character.

So, when Cable – Josh Brolin’s character – travels back in time, he meets two rednecks and rapidly shocks them both before stealing their truck. Those two gentlemen? Alan Tudyk and Matt Damon.

Damon only appears for a few seconds, his character immersed in a chat about toilet paper with another hillbilly portrayed by Alan Tudyk, who previously acted alongside Morena Baccarin in Firefly. Unlike Tudyk, who is instantly recognized by fans, Damon is obscured by a scraggly beard, prosthetics, and a baseball cap, all of which make him virtually unrecognizable.

Rhett Reese, the writer of Deadpool 2, previously teased the cameo, telling Radio Times, “I have a toilet paper manifesto of my own, about the inadequacy of toilet paper.”

“I do this bit about it, and I did it for Ryan. We all looked at each other and said, ‘This has to go into the movie somehow.’ Then we discussed what calibre actor would we need to do such a scene.”

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film’s writers, have confirmed that Damon is playing the character. “You’ll have to put ‘spoiler alert’ on this, but that was Matt Damon as the redneck in the Cable introduction scene,” Wernick told Vulture. “Nobody’s figured it out,” Reese said, adding that, “Literally nobody’s figured it out. You’re not the only one. Not a single person has spotted him.”

In an interview with Fandango, Wernick said, “He disappeared so deeply into it. We had him out on set and he was in heavy make-up, done by Bill Corso, so you could never tell it was him. That’s why nobody notices him.”

Brad Pitt also appeared in Deadpool 2 as The Vanisher, which was a great cameo. Pitt was set to portray Cable but had to pull out due to schedule issues, yet director David Leitch made time for the actor to return.
