After requesting Jennifer Lopez for an autograph, a hotel maid was fired.
Pray Dodaj, who worked at the Melia Duesseldorf in Germany, was star struck when she was recently assigned to clean the former American Idol judge’s room and attempted to obtain an autograph, but she was fired the next day after Jennifer complained.
According to the German daily Bild, Dodaj believes Lopez was the cause for her termination from the hotel.
“I cleaned on her floor. And I am an incredibly big fan so I took all my courage and rang the bell to get an autograph,” Pray Dodaj said of her attempt to approach J.Lo.
“But I was rejected by two assistants at the door.”
The cleaning firm that Dodaj worked for at the hotel phoned the next day to say Lopez had complained, according to Dodaj.
Dodaj said, “I was fired right there on the phone! Because of an autograph!”
Cyrus Heydarian, the hotel’s director, stands by his decision to fire Dodaj, saying he won’t allow staff who bother his customers.
He said: ‘She has acted contrary to the contractual arrangements and disturbed the privacy of our guests.’
Lopez reacted on Twitter, denying the claim of maid termination. “C’mon thought you knew me better than this.. Would never get anyone fired over an autograph. 1st I heard of this was on twitter. #hurtful.”
The artist was not involved, according to a statement made by the Breidenbacher Hof hotel in Düsseldorf.
‘Fact is Mrs. Dodaj did not at any time have direct or personal contact with Jennifer Lopez,’ it read. ‘ At no time, either Mrs. Lopez personally, or her staff, or the Hotel, asked for the termination of Mrs. Bete Dodaj’s contract.’
‘The group was by any account pleased with the hotel and its services and was very pleasant, friendly and courteous.’
Jennifer performed in Dusseldorf on October 31 as part of her European tour. “Here’s my costume! #HappyHalloween! My team and I had fun celebrating in Dusseldorf and Oberhausen! #peace&love!” she tweeted about the night.
Dodaj has reportedly been given a job at another hotel.
