The “Jack Reacher” actor appeared on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday to discuss the holidays and his new picture, his first interview since his breakup from Katie Holmes.
The 50-year-old actor, who is known for doing the bulk of his own stunts in his films, has said that the “worst injury” he suffered while filming his latest film was when his foot became swelled after shooting a sequence many times.
Cruise said that he got hurt after repeatedly kicking a man in a sensitive area over and over again.
“There’s a scene where I’m kicking a guy in the balls, the testicles,” he told US TV talk show host Jimmy Fallon.
“It was a human being, [but] no testicles were injured in the making of the film! We had to do the take over and over again, and the first 10 times it was like, ‘Yeah!’
“After about 50 times in, my foot was swelling … I kept having to loosen my shoe.”
“Maybe Jack Reacher should wear Ugg boots,” Fallon quipped.
Knowing well well that he would lose in any form of hand-to-hand fighting, the host then challenged his guest to a game of Water War, a classic “Late Night” skit in which the player who draws the highest card gets to dump water on his opponent—and who gets wet.
Despite the fact that he injured his foot while filming ‘Jack Reacher,’ the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star has had worse injuries on site.
“I’ve broken my leg,” he stated earlier. “The first time [I broke my nose], I got hit by a fastball. Another time, I got hit with a baseball bat by accident.”
“Then I re-jarred it on a motorcycle. No one thought about helmets or pads back then. When I was 18, on the set of ‘Taps’, I met the stunt guys. I was like: ‘You train for stuff like this?’ Back in the day there were no videos of this stuff.”
In the aftermath of the school tragedy in the United States, the New York premiere of Jack Reacher was canceled earlier this week.
