Olivia Colman has expressed her enjoyment of filming a lesbian s^x scene with Emma Stone in their new film The Favourite.

The movie follows the story of Queen Anne and her intimate relationships with Lady Sarah Churchill and Abigail Masham.

Stone portrays Masham and Rachel Weisz as Churchill. Colman, who plays Queen Anne, revealed that she had a great time filming the scenes with Stone, saying, “It was awfully fun having s^x with Emma Stone.”

Stone joked back, “It was really fun having s^x with you too,” and clarified that they didn’t actually have s^x.

The Favourite takes place in the 18th century and follows the competition between Masham and Churchill as they vie to become the queen’s closest confidante.

In addition to the intimate scenes, Colman talked about her joy in playing Queen Anne because the character “sort of feels everything.”

She further elaborated on the queen’s personality, describing her as “underconfident” and struggling with doubts about whether anyone truly loved her.

Colman said, “She has too much power, too much time on her hands.”

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, The Favourite is Colman’s second project with the director.

They previously worked together on the critically acclaimed The Lobster in 2015.

The Favourite also features Nicholas Hoult, Joe Alwyn, and Mark Gatiss in supporting roles.

The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, where it screened in competition for the festival’s prestigious Golden Lion award.

The Favourite received positive reviews from critics, with particular praise for the performances of the three lead actresses.

Variety’s Owen Gleiberman wrote, “The three stars are all in peak form, but it’s Colman who brings every note of subtlety, comic or otherwise, to Anne’s spasmodic, selfish, yet all-too-human chaos.”

The movie was also a hit with audiences, receiving a standing ovation at the Venice screening.

It later screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was again met with positive reviews.

The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney praised the film’s “cleverness, bitchiness, and emotional poignancy” and predicted that it could be a contender for major awards.

The Favourite eventually earned 10 Oscar nominations, including nods for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

Colman received a nomination for Best Actress and ultimately won the award, beating out Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, Yalitza Aparicio, and Melissa McCarthy.

Stone and Weisz were also nominated for Oscars for their supporting roles in the film, but Regina King ultimately took home the award for her performance in If Beale Street Could Talk.

The Favourite did win one other Oscar, with Olivia Colman’s win marking the film’s sole victory of the night.
