Johnny Depp, one of the most renowned actors in the entertainment industry, has reportedly refused an offer of $20 million to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Although Depp won a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2022, sources close to the actor confirm that he is not interested in working with Disney again.

Depp’s legal issues began in 2016 when Heard filed for divorce and then accused him of domestic abuse.

These allegations damaged Depp’s reputation, leading to Disney removing him from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

However, since he won the defamation case against Heard, Disney has approached him once again.

Despite the lucrative offer, Depp appears to have no interest in returning to Hollywood at all.

Instead, he is more focused on authentic expression through art and music.

A source close to the actor revealed that he is not interested in speaking someone else’s words, indicating that even if he returns to acting, it won’t be for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Depp’s friends have suggested that he is still upset over Disney firing him after Heard’s accusations.

Meanwhile, fans of the franchise will have to accept that they won’t be seeing their favorite character Jack Sparrow portrayed by Johnny Depp anymore.

In 2018, Heard wrote an opinion piece in The Washington Post claiming that she was a victim of domestic abuse without naming Depp.

This led to Depp filing a defamation lawsuit against her, demanding $50 million in damages.

Finally, in June 2022, the court found Heard guilty, and she was ordered to pay roughly $10 million.

Depp’s recent legal troubles have certainly overshadowed his professional achievements in recent years.

However, he has managed to win his defamation case, which could be a turning point in his career.

Although it’s unclear whether he will return to acting, it’s evident that he is more interested in exploring his artistic side through music and art.

Despite Depp’s decision not to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, it’s clear that his portrayal of Jack Sparrow will always be remembered as one of his most iconic roles.
