Actress Emily Blunt has recently opened up about her experience filming the movie Into The Woods while seven months pregnant with her daughter Hazel.
Blunt, who is married to actor John Krasinski, plays the role of the Baker’s Wife in the film.
In an interview with The Edit, Blunt discussed the unique challenges she faced while on set.
Despite being pregnant, Blunt explained that the role was actually perfect for her at the time because the character eats a lot of buns and it didn’t matter if she appeared a little bigger on screen.
However, as the shoot progressed and Blunt’s pregnancy advanced, she found herself needing to take extra precautions.
She stated, “by the end of the shoot I was about seven months (pregnant) and hiding behind every tree in the woods.”
In addition to discussing her pregnancy on set, Blunt also talked about the difficulties of raising a child in the entertainment industry.
She explained that there are now numerous books available with different approaches to parenting, including “How to Raise a Gluten-free Baby” and “How to Raise a Scientific Baby,” and that the overwhelming number of options can be overwhelming.
Despite this, Blunt stated that she is simply letting her daughter “do her own thing” and not following any particular parenting books.
Blunt first gained widespread recognition for her role as Emily in The Devil Wears Prada. Her performance in the film earned her praise from co-star Meryl Streep, who called her “the best young actress I’ve worked with in some time – perhaps ever”.
Blunt admitted that receiving such high praise from a respected veteran in the industry was “a little bit mind-blowing” and that she still gets excited every time she thinks about it.
