According to a new book about the Sussexes, Harry told Meghan, “I love you,” three months into their relationship.

The Times released a series of snippets from the book Finding Freedom by royal reporter Omid Scobie and ELLE.com royal correspondent Carolyn Durand. The book contains reporting and interviews with royal family and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sources, and it provides the clearest image yet of why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted to stand down from the royal family, as well as what Meghan and Kate’s relationship is like. The two also learned how Meghan and Harry’s romance began, how fast and profoundly they fell in love, and how they managed to keep their first six months of dating private from the British media.

Excerpts from the book have claimed that the Duke of Cambridge “wanted to make sure Harry wasn’t blindsided by lust” in the early stages of his relationship with Meghan, and deny rumors of a feud between the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex.

Meghan and Harry did not kiss during their almost three-hour first date at London’s Soho House, according to Scobie and Durand, but they did make arrangements for their second date the next day later that night. They enjoyed a lovely meal at Dean Street Townhouse, complete with chemistry and flirtation. “Harry knew they would be together at that point,” a buddy told Scobie and Durand. “She was ticking every box fast.”

Meghan, who was best known at the time for her part in the courtroom drama “Suits,” quickly said that her feelings for Harry were mutual, and the two began discussing their future together.

Meghan and Prince Harry initially met in London in July 2016 after a mutual acquaintance introduced them.

Meghan started following Harry’s private Instagram account, @SpikeyMau5, and shared a snapshot of a Love Hearts candy with the words “Kiss Me” inscribed on it. “Lovehearts in #London,” she captioned it. Scobie and Durand claim that Harry saw it and “got the message.”

According to co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book “Finding Freedom,” the pair went on dates in London, Toronto, and Botswana as their romance grew.

“For Meghan, she was all in. Nothing could get her to slow down, not even a friend who cautioned her about getting involved with Harry,” the co-authors of Finding Freedom state.

For the first time, Harry invited Meghan to his Kensington Palace home, where they chatted more. Six weeks later, he invited her to join him on their big third date holiday to Botswana.

“Three months into their relationship, a Meghan friend said, they had already begun swapping the words ‘I love you.’ It was Harry who said it first, but Meghan immediately replied, ‘I love you, too.’

“From there it didn’t take long for them to begin talking in non-oblique terms about their future.”

Although the duke and duchess worked hard to keep their relationship secret, the book claims that the former Suits star left “clues” about their affair on social media.

According to Scobie and Durand, she told a friend, “I’ve never felt that safe, that close to someone in such a short amount of time,” adding that she could talk to Harry about topics she couldn’t talk about with other people.

According to the book, the Prince of Wales was only given 20 minutes warning of his son’s plans to announce his relationship with Meghan.

The confirmation dominated the news cycle, taking the spotlight away from Charles and Camilla’s diplomatic visit of the Gulf.

Soon after they met and began dating, Harry warned Meghan that the press would ultimately find out about their relationship. “Make the most of this time we have,” he added, according to the writers. That is exactly what they did.
