Growing up on the set of a popular television show like Game of Thrones has both pros and cons. You have the advantage of being a star in a mega-hit show like Game of Thrones. Disadvantage: You must cope with the drawbacks that come with fame, such as a loss of privacy. Advantage: You get to dress up in fantastic costumes. Disadvantage: You don’t get to do typical adolescent activities like go to college or hang out with your mates.

Sophie Turner also claims to have lost out on one thing. When asked what she could have missed out on as a 23-year-old while shooting the world’s most popular television program for the previous ten years, the actress stated on The Graham Norton Show, which airs tonight on BBC One, “I wish I’d had the university experience.”

“I wish I could have gone out and drunk a lot and thrown up in the middle of a club without it being photographed! But, I am happy with my Game of Thrones experience. I don’t think I missed out on too much.”

Take it from someone who has been through it: Sansa Stark, you didn’t miss anything.

Sophie revealed that, despite missing one rite of passage, growing up on the Game Of Thrones set was a lot of fun, albeit a little perplexing.

Sophie said, ‘They [the cast] were very protective. There was one moment before a scene where Peter (Dinklage) and Conleth (Hill) were talking amongst themselves and they were swearing, and Peter was like, “Don’t swear in front of Sophie. She’s 14, you can’t swear.”

“And then they called, ‘action’ and the first words of the scene were a string of obscenities and expletives! It was all very strange.”

She also told Marie Claire Australia that as she got older and acquired weight in front of the world, she was very anxious. “My metabolism suddenly decided to fall to the depths of the ocean and I started to get spotty and gain weight, and all of this was happening to me on camera,” Sophie recounted. She credits counseling for helping her get through the mental and emotional toll of such criticism.

Sophie arrives on The Graham Norton Show with Taylor Swift, who previously slammed Sophie’s now-husband Joe Jonas on The Ellen Degeneres Show by telling the audience how he snubbed her.
