Cameron Diaz claims that after retiring from acting, she has been less concerned about her looks.

The actress spoke about how much her life has changed since she walked away from the entertainment world following her role as Miss Hannigan in 2014’s Annie in an interview with Michelle Visage on her new BBC Rule Breakers podcast.

Diaz, whose latest endeavor is the wine company Avaline Wine, remarked on the podcast that quitting acting has relieved her of the pressure of continuously worrying about her appearance. Diaz states, “I am absolutely a victim to all of the societal objectification and exploitations that women are subjected to. I have bought into all of them myself at certain times.”

“It’s hard not to, it’s hard not to look at yourself and judge yourself against other markers of beauty, and I think that that’s one of the biggest things…

Diaz also stated that as an actor, sitting in front of the mirror for hours on end became “toxic.”

“You just start to pick yourself apart, you know,” she explained. “And you’re like, ‘Why I am sitting here like being so mean to myself?’ My body’s strong, my body’s capable. Why am I going to talk down to it? Why am I going to be mean to it when it’s like carried me this far?”

She’s gone a long way since then in terms of embracing herself. “I don’t care. Literally, the last thing I think about on a daily basis—like maybe not at all during the day—is what I look like,” The Mask actor admitted.

In addition, despite having “a billion products” on her shelf, the Golden Globe candidate confessed in her interview with Visage, 53, that she does not put much work into her beauty routine.

“I literally do nothing. I never wash my face. Twice a month if I’m lucky, I’ll be like, ‘Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right? Like, is that all I have to do?’” she jokes. “I’m just not in that place right now where I put any energy.”

Diaz isn’t concerned with appearing perpetually young as she approaches her 50th birthday in August; instead, she says the only thing that matters to her is to “stay strong.”

Diaz, who began her career as a model and went on to feature in films such as “There’s Something About Mary,” is also an accomplished novelist and entrepreneur. She stated that she had no desire to return to acting.
