Alec Baldwin’s project, which he was producing and acting in when he tragically shot a cinematographer with a prop gun last week, has been formally halted, with “a pause rather than an end.”

The movie’s production company noted in an email addressed to crew members on Sunday night that they “have made the decision to wrap the set at least until the investigations are complete,” according to PEOPLE.

“Although our hearts are broken, and it is hard to see beyond the horizon, this is, at the moment, a pause rather than an end,” the email stated. “The spirit that brought us all to this special place remains.”

The team stated that it was collaborating with law enforcement, performing its own internal safety investigation, and providing grief counseling.

Hutchins died after being evacuated to the University of New Mexico Hospital on Thursday, and authorities in New Mexico are investigating her death. Baldwin, 63, shot Hutchins with a prop gun while practicing a scene on the set of the film. Director Joel Souza was also hurt in the event, although he was released the next day from the hospital.

The actor had been told the pistol was safe to use for the scene in which he would pull it out while sitting in a church pew and point it at the camera.

Cameraman Reid Russell told a detective he wasn’t sure if the weapon had been examined before it was delivered to Baldwin, and he had no idea why the gun had been discharged.

When the gun went off, the camera was not rolling.

The production team included in its email that they would be matching any donations made by the Rust crew to the Halyna Hutchins Scholarship Fund, which was created by her family.

Baldwin later spoke out about the event, stating that he is helping police with their investigation.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,” Baldwin said on Twitter.

“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family,” he continued. “My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Anatoly Androsovych, Hutchins’ father, recently spoke out about the incident, saying that he is not blaming the 30 Rock actor for what occurred.

‘We still can’t believe Halyna is dead and her mother is going out of her mind with grief,’ he said.

‘But I don’t hold Alec Baldwin responsible — it is the responsibility of the props people who handle the guns.’

“I don’t think there are words to communicate the situation,” Hutchins’ husband, Matthew, told Insider on Friday of his wife’s death.

“I’m not going to be able to comment on the facts or the process of what we’re going through right now,” Matthew said, adding, “but I appreciate that everyone has been very sympathetic.” Matthew and the late cinematographer had an 8-year-old kid together. “I think that we will need a little bit of time before we can really encapsulate her life in a way that is easy to communicate.”
