According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no regrets about leaving the Royal Family for a new life in California and are ‘proud’ of their decision.

The book “Finding Freedom,” by royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, is described as “[t]he first, epic and true story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life together, finally revealing why they chose to pursue a more independent path and the reasons behind their unprecedented decision to step away from their royal lives” on Amazon.

The authors say in a new epilogue that the pair has found their stride in their newfound independence and are “proud” of the job they’ve done outside of the monarchy’s institution. Since leaving the royal family, the couple has established its Archewell charitable organization, signed major production partnerships with Spotify and Netflix, and continue to support and advocate issues close to their hearts. Meghan and Harry have both added author to their post-royal resumes, with Meghan releasing her first children’s book, The Bench, in May and Harry set to release a biography about his life in 2022.

“As difficult as recent years have been, sources close to the Sussexes say that neither Harry nor Meghan have any regrets about the decisions they have made,” Scobie and Durand write.

“[These accomplishments are] another sign that [Meghan and Harry] had made the right decision to step back from royal roles, not only for their family but for their focus on social issues and helping the world.”

Friends of the Duchess reportedly say she “is ‘proud’ to see how far she has come and what she and Harry have been able to build in the brief twelve months of their new financially independent lives.”

The book’s veracity has been questioned, and it turns out that Harry and Meghan had little (if anything) to do with its production. The Daily Mail reports that Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s book is completely unapproved, and Harry and Meghan’s representatives have warned them to avoid the book and its subsequent crew. Scobie and Durand, according to the couple’s attorneys, did “not speak for our clients and seem to rely on unnamed sources.”

The pair is looking forward to a new “era of visibility” once the COVID-19 pandemic allows for more in-person gatherings and engagement, according to People.

“They’re a couple who do very well in those moments of human interaction. They need to be on the ground,” Scobie told the newspaper.

The book calls their accomplishments “another sign that [Meghan and Harry] had made the right decision to step back from royal roles, not only for their family but for their focus on social issues and helping the world.”
