According to a royal book, Prince William ‘doesn’t feel trapped at all’ in the royal family and is ‘modeling himself on his grandmother the Queen.’

During his and wife Meghan Markle’s explosive appearance with Oprah Winfrey in March, the Duke of Cambridge, 38, was said to be struggling with life as a senior royal by his brother Prince Harry.

Prince Harry has said that he felt “trapped” in the Royal Family, but author Penny Junor has stated that William is optimistic about his future.

The royal author who wrote “Prince William: The Man Who Will Be King,” said of the Duke, “I think he absolutely gets what his destiny is and he is embracing it. He is modelling himself on his grandmother the Queen.”

Penny called the Duke of Sussex, 36, who now lives in the United States with his wife Meghan and son Archie, ‘absolutely wrong,’ and said she doesn’t believe he ‘feels trapped at all.’

Following the birth of William’s children, Harry is now sixth in line to the throne, with his own son Archie seventh.

Since his relocation to California, where he claims he is more relaxed, Harry has spoken out often about his difficulties with life as a prince.

Harry said to the American talk show host: “I myself was trapped. I didn’t see a way out. I was trapped but I didn’t know I was trapped.

He added: “My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave.”

‘Eventually when I made that decision for my family, I was still told, ‘You can’t do this’, And it’s like, ‘Well how bad does it have to get until I am allowed to do this?’. She [Meghan] was going to end her life. It shouldn’t have to get to that.’

When I pressed Harry to elaborate on his claim, he said: “Trapped within the system, like the rest of my family are.

During a five-part series on mental health that he co-produced with Oprah, the Duke of Sussex also recounted how his father Charles forced him to “suffer” in the Royal Family in the same manner that he had.

One of the “biggest reasons” Harry and Meghan left the UK was because they felt abandoned by his family, according to Harry.

He told Oprah: “Certainly now I will never be bullied into silence.

“I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence, total neglect.

“We spent four years trying to make it work. We did everything that we possibly could to stay there and carry on doing the role and doing the job. But Meghan was struggling.”

According to a royal insider, Harry’s constant criticism of the royal family and the monarchy has aided William in breaking out of his shell.

This comes after a source said Prince William does not feel he is ‘trapped’ within the British monarchy, and Prince Harry’s claims that he is are ‘way off the mark.’

A royal insider also disputed that William is having trouble adjusting to his position, saying, like Ms Junor, that he looks up to the Queen as a role model.

“He is very much his grandmother’s grandson in that respect of duty and service,” a source close to both brothers told the Sunday Times.

It follows the introduction of a petition by royal expert Lady Colin Campbell asking Prince Harry to ask the Queen to suspend his royal titles.
