Curious minds want to know: Could Lilibet Diana, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child, become President of the United States in the not-too-distant future?

The royal baby may be eligible to run for president of the United States if she breaks links with the British royalty.

Lili, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter, was born on Friday at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She is the eighth in line to the throne and does not presently hold any royal titles.

Beaumont Etiquette’s founder and royal expert Myka Meier prophesied that Archie (2) will have a sibling from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Meier made a significant distinction between Archie and Lilibet during her discussion on the Royally Obsessed podcast.

“This time, it will be an American-born baby, which is very different from the first. It also means that this baby technically could become president one day,” she explained.

“I know that Harry loved growing up with his brother Prince William very close in age and I think that he wants the same thing for Archie,” Meier previously said.

The president must be a natural-born citizen, at least 35 years old, and have lived in the United States for at least 14 years, according to the US Constitution’s criteria for holding office.

The Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution further specifies that elected officials shall not take titles from foreign powers.

According to royal analyst Kinsey Schofield, Lili’s place in the line of succession implies there would be a “conflict of interest” if she were to pursue a political career in the United States.

“Lili would have to renounce her claim to the throne or seek an exemption from Congress to even run for president of the United States of America,” Schofield, publisher of To Di For Daily, told Insider. Even though Lili and her brother Archie will be eligible to titles when Charles becomes king, royal historian Marlene Koenig told Insider that “that does not mean they would be styled as such.”

“The precedent is the Wessex kids who are grandchildren of the sovereign in the male line,” she remarked, referring to Prince Edward’s children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn.

“If she receives the type of media attention that her parents do, they will likely refer to her as Princess Lili the same way Diana was still considered a princess after her divorce. While she might be able to escape the position, she will have a hard time escaping the title,” Schofield said.

Back in March, it was reported that Meghan Markle would leverage the furore over her interview with Oprah to begin a political career that might lead her all the way to the White House.

According to The Mail on Sunday, one senior Labour member – a veteran of Tony Blair’s Downing Street government with strong ties to Washington — Ms Markle, 39, was networking among top Democrats with the goal of forming a campaign and finance team for a run for the US presidency.
