Prince William is said to be worth about $40 million. He has accumulated this through various sources.

Queen Mother

The Queen Mother, according to the BBC, placed the majority of her estimated £70 million (approximately $89 million) wealth into a trust fund for her great-grandchildren in 1994. “Princes William and Harry will reportedly share about £14 m from the estate of their late great grandmother,” the network said in 2002. That works out to approximately $17.9 million.

“The bulk of the cash will go to the younger brother, since William will benefit financially by becoming king.”

Mother, Princess Diana

Diana left an estimated $9 million to her 38-year-old oldest son, Prince William. William and Harry started collecting their inheritances at the age of 25, and by the age of 30, they had received the entire sum.

Diana had an estimated net worth of £23 million (about $31.5 million) at the time of her death in 1997, the most of which stemmed from her divorce from Prince Charles.

The Duchy of Cornwall

The private estate, which was founded in 1137, “funds the public, charitable, and private activities of the Prince of Wales and his family,” according to its website. It comprises of land and buildings in 23 English counties, as well as an investment portfolio.

While Prince Charles’ siblings are paid via the Duchy of Lancaster, the Duchy of Cornwall supplies the majority of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’s income—90 percent, according to CNN Money. Prince Charles pays Prince William and Kate Middleton, and formerly Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, from the Duchy of Cornwall’s income surplus.

During the 2019-2020 fiscal year, Charles and Camilla earned almost 22.2 million pounds (approximately $30 million US dollars) in revenue from the Duchy of Cornwall, as well as nearly 2 million pounds in money from the Sovereign Grant to support their official royal duties. “The majority of staff and official and charitable work, including the official offices of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex activity, are paid for from His Royal Highness’s private income from the Duchy of Cornwall,” their annual review says.

During the fiscal year 2018-2019, Charles and Camila participated in 638 social activities in 14 countries. They “undertook 580 engagements” in the UK and internationally between 2019 and 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, continue to receive at least several million pounds from the Duchy each year.

Military job

Prince William, like other royal males, served in the military. He joined the Household Cavalry’s Blues and Royals unit in 2006 and subsequently became a helicopter pilot in the RAF Search and Rescue Force. According to Forbes, his pay in the latter job was between $68,000 and $74,000. He quit the position in 2013.

William began a civilian career as an ambulance pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance in 2015, where he contributed his $62,000-a-year income to charity. He is currently a full-time royal worker.
