Ben Travolta, John Travolta’s 8-year-old son, was spotted riding shotgun in the cockpit of a Qantas jet on Saturday. Kelly Preston, Travolta’s wife, is Ben’s mother; the couple has been married since 1991.

Ben is seen hanging out in the pilot’s seat with a pal in the photograph. In an Instagram caption, Travolta said his kid was pretending to fly his “first A380 @qantas flight.”

“My son Ben is taking my place!” Travolta added.

According to Qantas, the “Grease” star is a certified private pilot who has been a Qantas ambassador since June 2002. That year, Travolta joined Qantas’ Spirit of Friendship tour to promote travel in the aftermath of 9/11.

According to the Qantas website, Travolta received his 747-400 “wings” after intensive training with Qantas in Sydney and Boeing in Seattle.

‘After owning a Boeing 707 for 18 years the BBJ feels like home in more ways than one,’ John captioned a photo of himself hanging out of an aircraft door in August 2018.

A toy airplane was the actor’s favorite toy when he was his son’s age.

“So when I was 8-years-old, this was the state-of-the-art toy,” Travolta remarked on Instagram in September, before doing a takeoff demonstration with the toy.

Preston, 57, and the Oscar nominee had their son in 2010. Jett, the couple’s eldest son, died in January 2009 at the age of 16 after having a seizure while on vacation in the Bahamas.

Kelly wrote on Instagram on what would have been Jett’s 27th birthday: ‘Happy Birthday Jetty, my sweet love,’ while John added: ‘Happy birthday my son I love you!’ with a portrait of the late teen.

Travolta spoke to Us Weekly in January about how he prioritizes his family. The New Jersey native explained, “Our children keep our interest in life very high.” “Their future is very important to us.”

The Grease star went on to explain that he and the actress use charts and family meals to keep their son and daughter grounded. “Helping anywhere that’s needed is the general idea. It could change each day.”

In an interview with People in August, John provided a rare glimpse into his children’s activities, saying of Ben, “He’s into gymnastics, tennis, fishing, and the computer world, like all the kids.”

Travolta expressed his pride in his daughter, who chose to follow in her famous parents’ footsteps and pursue acting. She recently featured alongside her father and Morgan Freeman in the thriller The Poison Rose.

He added of Ella: ‘She is her own person. She is gracious, generous, poised, graceful and gorgeous. I don’t know how she came to be, and I don’t take any credit other than just adoring her. And maybe that’s a valid contribution.’
