Lili had a very significant meeting with her namesake, Queen Elizabeth, after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex brought her into the world.

Meghan and Harry followed royal tradition and informed the Queen of their happy news before announcing it to the rest of the world.

According to a royal insider, the royal couple did so after coming home from the hospital with a video call to the Palace.

After they got out of the hospital, they are believed to have video phoned the Queen so she could meet Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on June 6th. Lili was born in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California at 11:40 a.m. on Friday, June 4th, weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces.

During his February visit on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Prince Harry revealed that the Sussexes and the Queen communicate often through Zoom. “Both my grandparents do Zoom,” Harry said before Prince Philip died, adding, “They’ve seen Archie running around.”

Prince Harry, 36, and his wife, 39, had shared the baby’s name with his grandmother before she was born, and his grandmother’s childhood nickname served as inspiration for Prince Harry, 36, and his wife, 39. They turned to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, for Lili’s middle name. Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, gave her the nickname “Flower” as a kid, and the name is a loving tribute to her.

Since her birth, it has been a subject of debate whether or not they informed the Queen about their intentions to name their daughter Lilibet, or Lili for short.

The Lilibet name has been with the Queen for 95 years, and her late husband Prince Philip used it occasionally.

Meghan and Harry also sent a heartfelt statement about baby Lili’s birth. “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” the Sussexes wrote.

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

According to royal historian Robert Lacey, Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth have developed a “remarkable bond” in the years since Princess Diana’s untimely death in 1997.

Lacey explains, “She was a sort of stepmother for both Harry and William,” notes Lacey. “We have all focused on her coaching of William as the future King, but we are realizing now the importance of the emotional bonds that she’s been able to establish with Harry and their ability to talk to each other directly. That affection remains.”

According to a spokesman for the family said the Sussexes requested permission from the Queen before using the name “Lilibet.”

“The duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement – in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called,” the spokesman added.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”

“Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home,” a spokeswoman for the Duke and Duchess stated.

“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.”
