Meghan Markle felt “shunted off” when she was requested to stay at Nottingham Cottage rather than Kensington Palace.

Author Tom Quinn says the Duchess would have initially been “drawn in” by the grandeur of the Royal Family.

But, he said, she grew dissatisfied with life “in a little cottage” when she and Prince Harry settled into married life.

He went on to say, “I think she wasn’t too keen on that.”

“it seemed like they were being shunted off to a little prefab in the grounds.

Harry had resided at Nottingham Cottage, sometimes known as Nott Cott since 2013. Meghan moved in with him shortly before they announced their engagement. It was a two-bedroom cottage within the grounds of Kensington Palace.

It was the couple’s home until they moved to Frogmore Cottage, and then to California.

However, writers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand of the pro-Sussex book Finding Freedom stated that the future Duchess was originally “thrilled” to be living there.

“After months of long-distance, Meghan was thrilled to finally be sharing a postcode, W8 4PY, with her partner,” they claimed.

“She felt at home at Nott Cott with Harry — she’s always been able to bloom where she was planted, but she hadn’t moved to London to start a new job.

“She had moved to London to start a new life.”

The couple did not remain at Nottingham Cottage for long, and instead relocated to Frogmore Cottage near Windsor to escape the stresses of city life.

Mr Quinn told the Mirror’s ‘Pod Save The Queen’ podcast that he believes Meghan’s first house would have been unsatisfactory as she “suddenly realised it was like living in the Russian Steppe.”

“She was away from everything,” he observed.

After leaving the royal family, the Sussexes have settled in a large multi-million dollar home in California.

In February, Meghan said, “I think we’ve moved enough” when TV presenter James Corden suggested that the couple could move into the opulent home from the comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
