A royal biographer says Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s choice to name their baby Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is “rude” to Queen Elizabeth II.

Ms Angela Levin said on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, “I think she’s desperately unhappy because they were desperately rude about her.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea. I think it’s quite rude to her Majesty the Queen.

“It was a very private nickname from her husband who hasn’t been dead for very long.

“Prince Charles would never dream of referring to his mother as Lilibet.

“He’s never used it – it was a special name, especially for the Duke of Edinburgh.”

Prince Philip, who died on April 9 at the age of 99, is also said to have used the nickname Lilibet as a term for affection, according to People, which noted that during his funeral, the Queen put a handwritten letter on his casket marked with the nickname.

The royal biographer didn’t stop there, claiming that Her Majesty would be ‘hurt.’

“I think it’s quite demeaning.”

Similarly, Piers Morgan, who left “Good Morning Britain” in April after a cohost accused him of disparaging Meghan Markle, called the name use “quite ironic.”

On Sunday June 6th, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their second child, a baby girl.

“The baby’s name is Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, according to the Sussexes’ press secretary.

She added: “Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.

“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.”

‘The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,’ Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
