Wesley Snipes has given it back after Patton Oswalt accused him of strange behavior on the set of Blade: Trinity. In a recent interview, the actor and comedian said that Snipes attempted to strangle filmmaker David S Goyer.

In a 2012 interview with A.V. Club, Oswalt discussed the various roles he has performed during his long career. That includes his role as “Hedges” in the 2004 picture “Blade: Trinity,” which he remembers as having a rocky production due to Snipes’ difficult temperament, according to him.

Snipes, according to Oswalt, would smoke pot all day.

“Wesley [Snipes] was just f—g crazy in a hilarious way. He wouldn’t come out of his trailer, and he would smoke weed all day.” Snipes shouted at a Black actor who was wearing a shirt with the term “Garbage” inscribed on the front, according to Oswalt.

“It was his shirt. And Wesley came down to the set, which he only did for close-ups. Everything else was done by his stand-in. I only did one scene with him. But he comes on and goes, ‘There’s only one other Black guy in the movie, and you make him wear a shirt that says ‘Garbage?’ You racist m———-r!’”

In a recent interview with the 58-year-old actor, The Guardian raises these allegations, which he rejects.

Snipes said, “Let me tell you one thing. If I had tried to strangle David Goyer, you probably wouldn’t be talking to me now. A black guy with muscles strangling the director of a movie is going to jail, I guarantee you.”

“Why do people believe this guy’s version of this story?” Snipes said. “Answer me that. This is part of the challenges that we as African Americans face here in America – these microaggressions. The presumption that one white guy can make a statement and that statement stands as true! Why would people believe his version is true? Because they are predisposed to believing the black guy is always the problem. And all it takes is one person, Mr Oswalt, who I really don’t know. I can barely remember him on the set, but it’s fascinating that his statement alone was enough to make people go: ‘Yeah, you know Snipes has got a problem.’”

In the 2012 interview, Oswalt also mentioned an exchange between Snipes and Goyer in which Snipes informed the director that he was “detrimental” to the film and needed to “quit.” “Why don’t you quit?” Goyer said. “We’ve got all your close-ups, and we could shoot the rest with your stand-in.”

“And that freaked Wesley out so much that, for the rest of the production, he would only communicate with the director through Post-it notes. And he would sign each Post-it note ‘From Blade,’” Oswalt explained.

Wesley then reminded interviewer Simon Hattenstone that he was one of Blade: Trinity’s executive producers and that he had contractual director approval on the film. “I was not just the actor for hire. I had au-thor-i-ty to say, to dictate, to decide. This was a hard concept for a lot of people to wrap their heads around.”

Blade: Trinity grossed $132 million worldwide when movie was released in 2004.
