Is Tom Cruise’s dramatic face transformation down to plastic surgery? Experts weigh in

Tom Cruise has been in the public eye for over four decades…but it’s the 80s megastar’s new look, not his day job, that has attracted a lot of attention recently.

Fans have hypothesized that the ever-youthful celebrity has had a nose operation, hair transplant, Botox, and veneers on his teeth, despite the fact that he has continuously denied going under the knife.

Cruise, who turns 60 in July, was in the audience with his son Connor, 26, at a San Francisco Giants baseball game this weekend, but many spectators were distracted by his ‘puffy’ face, with some stating the Mission Impossible actor was barely ‘recognisable’ and had ‘chipmunk cheeks.’

Others even compared him to comedian Norm Macdonald, who died recently.

One user wrote, “Didn’t realise Tom Cruise had signed on to a Norm Macdonald biopic.”

“Tom Cruise has either gained weight, or he has a face full of fillers. I’m going with the fillers,” commented another.

“Am I the only one who thinks this isn’t Tom Cruise but just some random dude who looks kind of like him?” another wrote, perplexed.

Cruise was all smiles when his face appeared on the big screen during the game, posing for selfies with fans and chatting with individuals in the audience. He waved as the song Danger Zone from the Top Gun soundtrack played in the stadium.

Dr. Tijion Esho, star of Netflix’s Bodyfixers, argues that although celebrities used to go under the knife to fight the aging process, fillers, botox, peels, and ‘instant face-lifts’ have now become the go-to maintenance treatment for A-listers of a particular vintage.

The owner and practitioner of Harley Street Injectables, Alice Henshaw, thinks the Mission Impossible star looks “swollen” – maybe after undergoing surgery.

“Tom looks swollen and puffy,” Henshaw told The Sun, “which could be due to filler, post procedure swelling or weight gain.”

“I believe he’s had fillers under his eyes and around his mouth and nose in the past, but this time is different.

“A side profile view of him shows his neck is also quite swollen. Filler would not be placed in this area, which signifies it would not be filler but rather swelling or weight gain.

“Often surgical procedure such as a platysmal plasty, or neck lift, combined with a mid-facelift could create this type of swelling in these areas, and scars are easily disguised.”

Alice also thinks rumors about a hair transplant are true.

“At almost 60, Tom’s hairline has remained relatively the same, although slightly thinning, which does suggest he may have had hair transplants,” she says.

According to Dr Nyla Raja, the founder of Medispa clinics in Cheshire and Harley Street, which have a slew of high-profile clientele, the Mission Impossible star may have ‘overindulged’ in fillers based on his most recent public appearance.

‘It would appear Tom has overindulged in anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers which has actually had an adverse effect on his appearance,’ Dr Nyla told FEMAIL.

‘Without careful consideration to each individual patients’ facial structures’ results of fillers can make faces “appear distorted and unnatural”.’
