According to a new biography of the pair, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “furious” after a photographer took photos of them leaving a medical checkup following Meghan’s miscarriage.

In July 2020, Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 40, were in Beverly Hills, California, for an appointment, only to be photographed by photographers as they departed.

The accusations regarding the couple’s sentiments towards the photo originate from the royal journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s biography Finding Freedom, which will be updated on August 31.

According to The Independent, the writers stated, “What should have been a deeply personal moment quickly became the top story on the Daily Mail Online, with a dozen photos of the masked couple getting into a Cadillac SUV.”

The story focused on the couple’s usage of a Cadillac Escalade, citing internet evaluations that described it as “as far from environmentally friendly as you can get.”

The couple had already faced backlash for flying on private aircraft when traveling with their two-year-old son Archie.

Meghan announced she had miscarried in an essay for the New York Times titled “The Losses We Share,” in which she expressed her grief at the loss of her second baby.

The 40-year-old Duchess and the 36-year-old Duke revealed in February 2021 that they were expecting again. On June 4th, 2021, they welcomed their daughter into the world.

It’s unclear if the photos of Harry and Meghan leaving the hospital were shot just after the miscarriage or during a follow-up visit.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, in June 2021. Meghan and Harry named their daughter Lilibet after Meghan’s great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet, and Diana after her late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.

“It was a July morning that began as ordinarily as any other day: Make breakfast. Feed the dogs. Take vitamins. Find that missing sock. Pick up the rogue crayon that rolled under the table. Throw my hair in a ponytail before getting my son from his crib,” she began.

Markle continued, “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right. I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”

She continued: “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few. In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage.”
