Priyanka Chopra may have purposefully snubbed Kate Middleton and Prince William in favor of Meghan Markle by refusing to applaud as the pair arrived in the royal box at Wimbledon, according to royal fans.

As Prince William and Kate entered the royal box at Centre Court on Saturday, actress Priyanka Chopra was spotted fixing her scarf and hair as everyone else around her applauded.

Further pictures show Priyanka looking away from the royal couple as they chatted with VIPs after the match on the Centre Court balcony.

It’s unclear if Chopra Jonas snubbed the couple on purpose. It’s conceivable she didn’t see the duke and duchess or wasn’t aware of the proper protocol for applauding the entrance of the royals, according to Mail Online.

Many royal observers speculated that it was a snub after the Duchess of Sussex, 39, made comments about Kate during her Oprah Winfrey interview.

On Twitter, one user wrote: “She totally ignored them. I would do the same if my friend was mistreated,” one person remarked, while another added, “I would ignore them as well.”

One user tweeted, “It’s Priyanka Chopra not applauding to the prince’s arrival for me,” accompanied with the video, which has already been watched over 49,000 times.

The status of Markle’s relationship to Middleton and William is unknown at this time. Since before Harry and Markle retired from royal responsibilities in 2020, the Sussexes and Cambridges have allegedly been at odds.

The Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey about her sister-in-law in March.

She made several allegations about the royal family, including that Middleton apologized after making her cry at a bridesmaid dress fitting, and that there were racist conversations with unnamed royals about how dark Archie’s skin tone would be.

Meanwhile, Chopra Jonas has known the Duchess of Sussex for many years and has publicly stated their relationship to the press.

Natasha Poonawalla, a businesswoman friend of the actress, joined her in the royal box.

While the significance of the Quantico star’s reaction to the royal couple’s entrance at Wimbledon is unknown, some royal fans speculated that it was in response to the accusations made against the royal family by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia in 2018, Chopraa hailed Markle as a “icon” and urged people to think of her as more than “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.”

“It’s natural for people to be like, ‘Oh that’s Prince Harry’s girlfriend,’ but she’s a lot more as well,” she said. “She’s an icon, truly, that girls can look up to, that women can look up to. She’s normal, she’s sweet, she’s nice, she thinks about the world, wants to change it and this was even before any of this happened.

Meghan made a virtual appearance at the 2020 Global Leadership Summit last year, which included speakers including Chopra and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Chopra attended Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry in May of 2018.

Meghan Markle and Priyanka Chopra have been friends since they met at an ELLE Women in Television event in January 2016.
