In the Oprah interview, Meghan Markle said that she and Prince Harry are seeking to disclose ‘parts of our lives’ that they are ‘comfortable’ with, and that everyone should have a ‘basic right to privacy.’

The then expectant Duchess of Sussex, 39, said she has never “talked about privacy” and that she and her husband, Prince Harry, are not seeking complete privacy as she reacted to people who have criticized them.

She also called people who claim the couple is attempting to hide from their public responsibilities a “false narrative”

The pair has been chastised for complaining about their personal privacy being invaded while also disclosing damaging information about private talks they have had with senior royals in front of tens of millions of people across the world.

Oprah, 67, said that when the former Suits actress started dating Harry in 2016, she should have prepared to sacrifice some privacy.

Meghan responds: “I think everyone has a basic right to privacy. Basic. We’re not talking about anything that anybody else wouldn’t expect.”

Meghan went on to give an analogy that summed up her belief about what the fundamental right to privacy entails, telling Winfrey that if you are at work and have a photo of your child on your desk, and a coworker asks to see your phone to view “all the pictures of your child,” “you would go: ‘No, this is the picture I’m comfortable sharing with you.’”

Meghan explains how it’s “all about boundaries” and how sharing one photo does not imply that the public is entitled to your whole life.

She added: “There’s no one who’s on Instagram or social media that would say, ‘Because I shared this one picture, that entitles you to have my entire camera roll. Go ahead and look through it’.

“No one would want that. So it’s about boundaries. And it’s about respect.

Hours after the interview, a fresh photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle holding newborn Archie surfaced on social media.

Hitting out at paparazzi, she added: “And then if they double down and say, ‘ No, but you already showed me that one, so you have to show me everything’.

“‘You know what, I’m just gonna hire someone to sit in front of your house, or hide in the bushes and take pictures into your backyard, because you’ve lost your right to privacy… because you shared one image with me’.”

‘That’s sort of the flawed argument and operating mechanism that they’re confusing people to think.’

The video is the latest to surface from the explosive interview, amid reports that additional material will be released soon.

The pair, who reside in suburban Los Angeles, have been chastised for requesting privacy after stepping down as senior royals and then telling all to Oprah, one of the most renowned interviewers in the US.

The Suits star’s remarks come after she and her husband were involved in many legal fights over their privacy rights, with the pair fighting photographers last year after they snapped pictures of their son Archie playing in their garden without permission.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have talked with Oprah Winfrey for three hours and twenty minutes for their bombshell interview, but just one hour and twenty-five minutes of video was broadcast.
