John Krasinski, an actor and filmmaker, recently discussed why he decided to step down as director of the upcoming A Quiet Place Part III.

Despite his best-known performance as Jim Halpert inOffice, Krasinski has made a name for himself as a filmmaker in recent years.

When A Quiet Place was released in 2018, it was his third directorial attempt. The first sci-fi picture was a great hit, prompting Paramount Pictures to contemplate turning it into a series.

In a recent interview with Empire, Krasinski confessed that he’s really relieved that he won’t be directing A Quiet Place 3, owing to the participation of Mud director Jeff Nichols. He stated that Nichols was his first choice to helm the following film, and he was overjoyed when the filmmaker of Mud and Midnight Special accepted the position.

“Truly the only person I had in mind when asked whether I would hand this off was Jeff. I think he’s one of the best filmmakers, Mud is one of my favourite movies, and so real and intimate. It’s exactly the sort of paints we’re painting with in A Quiet Place – very organic characters you fall in love with. So he was my first choice for this, and when he said yes I was over the moon. I pitched him my story, he’s gone and developed the world on his own with that jumping-off point, and I’m so thrilled. He’s actually just turning in a script now, and I loved it. I absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait to see him shoot this thing.”

Even after the success of the first film, Krasinski was publicly reticent to pursue a sequel. During the press tour for A quiet Place 2, he stated that as he started working on the screenplay, his mind changed. The sequel’s plot was something Krasinski felt compelled to be a part of. Krasinski appreciates Nichols for taking the idea and running with it as he created the first concept for A peaceful place 3.
