In a heated new interview, Piers Morgan blames Meghan Markle for his departure from Good Morning Britain and calls her a “liar”

The newspaper editor blamed the Duchess of Sussex for his resignation from the show, calling her remarks during an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey “downright lies.”

In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, he said: “I didn’t know this at the time but Meghan Markle had complained to my boss at ITV on the Monday night.

“It was demanded I apologise for disbelieving her otherwise I would have to vacate my chair.

“I thought there was hypocrisy, I thought there were downright lies coming out in the interview.

“I saw my job to hold them to account like I would to a government minister and for doing that, within 36 hours I had to leave the job.”

Meghan, who is due to give birth any day, complained to ITV about Piers, who stated he didn’t believe her allegations of having suicidal thoughts.

He said: “You’re not allowed to have strong opinions about things, you’re not allowed to disbelieve a liar like Meghan Markle.

“I’m sorry to call her that but she tells lies. We’ve demonstrated and proven that.”

Following Meghan Markle’s candid interview with Oprah, which aired in March, the controversial personality sparked outrage with his remarks about her.

They alleged that the royals were racist toward Archie, that Charles and William were “trapped,” and that Meghan was “silenced.”

Meghan also discussed her mental health struggles and said that when in the royal family, she “didn’t want to be alive anymore” which Piers Morgan could not believe.

Piers lambasted Meghan and Harry for “marching around like they’re Kim Jong-un with a dash of Vladimir Putin.” in a dramatic clip.

He also called them a “woke” pair who propagate “downright lies that would make Archbishop of Canterbury a criminal”

“Freedom of speech is more important than actually the Meghan Markle debacle,” Piers said.

Piers took aim at Meghan’s remark that she and Harry secretly married days before their multi-million pound public wedding on the show.

Her assertion was eventually debunked, with the Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, admitting that no formal documents were signed.

His words triggered an on-air brawl with Alex Beresford, but Piers snapped and rushed off stage, screaming, “I’m not having this!”

Following the controversial statements, Ofcom received more than 41,000 complaints.

ITV issued a statement hours later confirming the presenter’s resignation from the programme after six years as co-host Susanna Reid’s co-host.

It said: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Piers’ abrupt exit from the ITV show caused consternation among Telly viewers.

Some have accused him of being infatuated with Meghan, while others have stated he’s merely resentful because they used to be friends before she met Prince Harry.
