Ellen DeGeneres, the talk show host of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, is facing criticism from former employees who claim that she created a toxic work environment.

WarnerMedia is currently investigating the allegations, which include claims of sexual misconduct, harassment, and assault by top executives.

Some of DeGeneres’ famous friends have publicly supported her, while others have sided with the accusers.

DeGeneres, who is 62 years old, issued a statement in response to the allegations, saying, “As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”

Comedian Kevin T. Porter was one of the first people to publicly comment on DeGeneres’ alleged behavior, tweeting in March, “Right now we all need a little kindness. You know, like Ellen DeGeneres always talks about! She’s also notoriously one of the meanest people alive.”

Porter asked his followers to share their own stories about DeGeneres, promising to match each one with a $2 donation to the Los Angeles Food Bank.

Many people responded with their own accounts, though it is unclear which are true.

YouTube vlogger Nikkie de Jager had a negative experience as a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January.

De Jager was invited onto the show after coming out as transgender, but she was greeted by an angry intern rather than the warm welcome she had expected.

De Jager also claimed that she was treated differently from VIP guests and was not even given access to a bathroom while backstage.

Ellen DeGeneres issued a statement, saying that as her show has grown, she has not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew she would want them done.

She stated that she is committed to ensuring that this does not happen again.

Actor Brad Garrett believes that DeGeneres’ apology was too little, too late. He tweeted that it was “common knowledge” that people were treated “horribly” by her.

Actress Lea Thompson also backed Garrett’s claims of mean behavior from DeGeneres.

Podcast host Wayne Dupree believes that DeGeneres is not sorry, just sorry she got caught. He suggested that she should have apologized to those she allegedly mistreated much sooner.
