Mickey Rourke has criticized fellow actor Tom Cruise for repeating the same roles over the years.

In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Rourke was asked about Cruise’s success with “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Rourke responded, “The guy’s been doing the same f-ing part for 35 years. I got no respect for that.”

He went on to say that he thinks Cruise is “irrelevant” in his world.

Rourke is known for his roles in films such as “The Wrestler” and “Iron Man 2.”

He currently has 11 features in the works, including Roman Polanski’s rumored next project “Palace.”

Also, despite mentioning De Niro as an acting icon, Rourke has publicly feuded with the actor for over 30 years.

In a since-deleted 2020 Instagram post, Rourke called De Niro a “big fucking crybaby.”

Rourke wrote of his former “Angel Heart” co-star, “A friend of mine just recently told me that a few months back you’re quoted as saying to newspapers ‘Mickey Rourke’s a liar he talks all kind of shit.’ Listen Mr Tough Guy in the movies, you’re the 1st person that ever called me a liar and it was in a newspaper. Let me tell you something, you punk ass, when I see you I swear to God on my Grandmother, on my brother and all my dogs, I gonna embarrass you severely 100%. Mickey Rourke ‘as God is my witness.’”

In the same interview, Rourke also shared his thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

He wrote that original “Law and Order: SVU” stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni represent “real acting” compared to “that crap, that all on Marvel shit.”

Rourke previously criticized the MCU for editing out his performance in “Iron Man 2.” He said that he wanted to bring more depth to his character, but the studio only wanted a one-dimensional villain.

“I explained to [director Jon] Favreau that I wanted to bring some other layers and colors, not just make this Russian a complete murderous revenging bad guy,” Rourke said at the time.

“And they allowed me to do that. Unfortunately, the [people] at Marvel just wanted a one-dimensional bad guy, so most of the performance ended up [on] the floor.”

“At the end of the day, you’ve got some nerd with a pocketful of money calling the shots. You know, Favreau didn’t call the shots. I wish he would have.”

Rourke’s criticism of Cruise and the MCU is not the first time he has spoken out against his fellow actors and the film industry.

In the past, he has called out De Niro, Marvel, and the lack of opportunities for older actors in Hollywood.

Tom Cruise has been a major star in Hollywood for over three decades. He rose to fame in the 1980s with films like “Top Gun” and “Rain Man.”

In the years since, he has starred in numerous blockbuster films and is known for his daredevil stunts and dedication to his craft.

Despite Rourke’s criticism, Cruise’s recent success with “Top Gun: Maverick” proves that he is still a formidable presence in the industry.

The “Top Gun” franchise has been a fan favorite for decades.
