Colin Firth might have finally met the right person with whom to write a fairytale romance.

The Oscar winner, 61, is dating American writer Maggie Cohn, who portrayed Mr Darcy in the 1995 television rendition of Pride And Prejudice. They met on the set of The Staircase and were photographed having a romantic lunch at his local Lebanese restaurant, Grilandia, in Chiswick, west London, last week.

He smiled as the two walked out of the restaurant, dressed in jeans, a quilted jacket, and a flat hat, for a peaceful stroll in the winter weather.

Ms. Cohn, the producer of the TV show American Crime Story, was dressed in a turquoise-check wool coat and black flats. During their walk, the two laughed as they talked.

According to one witness, Colin told a few jokes to amuse his girlfriend.

‘They were deep in conversation together and looked very happy,’ a bystander observed. ‘Colin appeared to be cracking a couple of jokes and they giggled together. They might not have been holding hands but they certainly appeared to be close.’

Maggie Cohn is a screenwriter based in Los Angeles who has won multiple accolades from the Producers Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America for her program American Crime Story. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in film from Vassar College.

She’s also written for Narcos: Mexico, a prominent Netflix criminal drama.

Cohn has Anna Foerster’s next film Lou in the works, according to her IMDb biography.

Maggie, who is said to be in her forties, had come in from Los Angeles to see Colin, who has a £4 million mansion in Chiswick. After working together for several months on The Staircase, an HBO series created by Maggie, friends think they are in a relationship. However, neither side has formally declared their relationship.

Mr Firth plays Michael Peterson, a writer convicted of murdering his wife Kathleen Peterson (Toni Collette), who was discovered dead at the foot of their home’s staircase.

Right after his performance as Mr Darcy, Colin became a famous sex symbol. He has since acted in a number of successful films, including Bridget Jones’s Diary, in which he played Mark Darcy, the awkward lawyer, and Mamma Mia! In 2011, he received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his depiction of King George VI in The King’s Speech.
