JK Rowling’s statements on transgender persons will not be criticized by Jason Isaacs.

Rowling’s beliefs have been criticized by Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and others, but the Lucius Malfoy actor pointed out that Rowling has devoted an “enormous amount of her fortune” to making the world a better place.

The actor was asked about the author’s statements towards the trans community by The Telegraph, and while he may not agree with Rowling, he will not make a statement.

The 58-year-old actor told The Daily Telegraph newspaper, “There’s a bunch of stuff about Jo (Rowling). I play complicated people. I’m interested in complicated people. I don’t want to get drawn into trans issues, talking about them, because it’s such an extraordinary minefield. She has her opinions, I have mine. They differ in many different areas.”

‘But one of the things that people should know about her too – not as a counter-argument – is that she has poured an enormous amount of her fortune into making the world a better place, for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, through her charity Lumos.’

“And that is unequivocally good. Many of us Harry Potter actors have worked for it, and seen on the ground the work that they do.”

He went on to remark that, despite her saying some “very controversial things,” he wouldn’t “jump to stab her in the front – or back – without a conversation with her, which I’ve not managed to have yet.”

Isaacs isn’t afraid to voice his views loudly on Twitter, and he’s regularly entered into public debates ranging from Brexit to Donald Trump, but he says he’s now withdrawn from that due to the platform’s divisiveness.

He also believes that certain controversies are exaggerated, such as Jon Stewart’s remarks on the portrayal of goblins in the Harry Potter series.

JK Rowling supported a lady who was seeking legal action to get her “gender-critical views” protected under the UK Equalities Act in 2019.

In 2020, she was chastised on Twitter for a remark criticizing an article for using the words ‘people who menstruate’ instead of ‘women,’ tweeting: ‘”People who menstruate.” I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?’

She claims she is not transphobic and defends her remarks by saying, “‘If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction.” Her viewpoints have created a schism among the public.

Rowling subsequently backed up her claims in a long article published on her website a few days later.

She said in it that she was “deeply concerned” about the “effect the trans rights movement” was having on children’s “education and safeguarding.” She has vehemently denied being transphobic.

Despite the current controversy surrounding the series’ creator, several of the cast, including Isaacs, attended the “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” special.
