After four seasons of Cobra Kai, it’s evident that characters from all of the classic Karate Kid films have the potential to appear in the new show. Major characters from the movie have returned in large numbers in previous seasons, with the original actors reprising their roles. Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, the antagonist from The Karate Kid Part III, is the most recent example of this. So, what does this imply for the star of The Next Karate Kid, Hilary Swank?

Hilary Swank took over as the primary character in the fourth Karate Kid film, studying from the late Pat Morita’s Miyagi, much as Daniel did. She’s the most prominent character from the franchise who has yet to appear on the show, so fans are understandably curious if she’ll be able to join the fight, even if it’s just for a cameo. The Cobra Kai producers recently spoke with Fandom about the likelihood of Julie Pierce joining the cast, and their response was cryptically positive.

“All we can say about her is we love Hilary Swank. We think she’s a phenomenal actress and we love her character in this franchise. She was taught by Mr. Miyagi and she’s somebody who is important to the Karate Kid universe. We can’t say if she’ll return, we can’t say how she’d return if she was going to return. We can say that we talk about her and maybe we’ve met her, maybe we’ve worked with her, maybe we haven’t. We can’t tell you anything! It’s gonna continue to be a question until either she shows up or the series ends and we welcome the question every time!”

They are eager to give Hilary Swank a role in a future season of Cobra Kai, but several things must happen first before she can repeat her role, according to them.

Swank’s schedule must coincide with the production, and Julie must seamlessly integrate herself into the tale. There are a few obstacles to overcome, but the producers appear to be up to the task.

The Next Karate Kid was directed by Christopher Cain from a script by Mark Lee. Pat Morita reprised his role as Mr. Miyagi in the sequel, this time serving as a mentor to high school adolescent Julie Pierce. Despite the fact that the picture bombed at the box office and received overwhelmingly unfavorable reviews, many critics praised Swank’s performance, and Julie is widely regarded as her breakout role, propelling her to greater roles.
