Monica Bellucci has spoken up about aging gracefully, stating she wants to ‘get old in a peaceful way’ and isn’t ‘obsessed’ with maintaining her figure in her 50s.

Bellucci is unafraid of becoming elderly. And she’s coming to terms with it.

She says, ““I want to grow old in a peaceful way.”

In an interview with the Sunday Times Style magazine, the Italian actress, 57, discussed her feelings about growing older, stating she prefers wine, spaghetti, and the occasional Pilates class to arduous exercises and tight diets.

‘I am not obsessed. I’ve always been a curvy woman, never so skinny, that’s my nature. And I want to get old in a peaceful way,’ she said.

‘When you are 50 or 60 you don’t have the same needs as when you are 20,’ she added. ‘You change, like when your baby comes into the room, you see that the first thing is her. We come in second. This gives us another perspective.’

“When you are young, you have what in France is called La Beauté du diable, the beauty of the devil, which is natural, that is the beauty of youth, the beauty of the biological moment in your life. And life goes on. The body is aging and we have to accept that. There is nothing we can do. At the same time, we are happy, because if we grow old, it means that we have had a long life. As the body declines, the soul grows.”, she added.

Bellucci wears a black outfit that embraces her legendary hourglass curves on the cover of the magazine. Her raven hair is pushed back, and she poses with her hands on her face, her eyes closed.

Bellucci has two kids with her ex-husband Vincent Cassel, Deva, 17, and Léonie, 11, whom she divorced in 2013. Since then, the former couple has settled into a routine of co-parenting.

“We have been separated for a long time, but at the same time when you are a parent you are parents for life,” said Bellucci. “It is beautiful to have a relationship for the kids when it is possible.”

Bellucci stated on the #MeToo movement:

“We have come a long way and today we have the courage to say things because there are women who have done it before us. But at the same time, I do not believe in a war between men and women, I think we need to find a common ground for communication. I do not want to teach my daughters to be full of hatred, it leads nowhere. We have to find a way to talk.”

Bellucci also discussed how he became the longest-serving Bond love interest in the franchise’s history during the interview. She acted in the 2015 picture Spectre opposite Daniel Craig, who is four years her junior, at the age of 50.

‘There are so many women who are feeling free to get old in a different way,’ the actress said, adding that the casting signified a ‘big change’ in the industry.

While reflecting on her own rise to stardom as a model, she expressed gratitude for not being a young teen at the time.

‘I went through some times, moments that were not always perfect,’ she said. “But I started to work when I was already 18, 19 … I wasn’t 14. And then when I did cinema I was coming from a situation in fashion, so I was already economically independent.

‘I was lucky because I was never in a situation that I couldn’t deal with,’ she added. ‘That is a matter of luck, sometimes you just can’t defend yourself.’
