Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is not only the People’s Champion, but also the 2021 Comedy Movie Star!

He received the prize for his role in “Jungle Cruise” at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, beating out candidates such as “Red Notice” co-star Ryan Reynolds, Emily Blunt, Salma Hayek, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Eddie Murphy, and Octavia Spencer.

Johnson has now dedicated his prize for Comedy Movie Star of 2021 to Blunt.

Johnson said, “I will say that when it comes to comedy, maybe I’m decently funny. I can tell a decent dirty joke, especially when I have too much tequila. But I will say that with comedy, it always takes a great partner. This one goes out to this woman who is one of the greatest actors of our generation, of our time.”

The A-lister went on to describe Blunt as “brilliant” and “funny.” “And she’s almost as filthy as me when she drinks tequila,” he continued, laughing. “Emily Blunt, this is for you.”

Johnson’s speech will serve as a reminder to viewers that accolades are frequently the result of a team effort, and Johnson obviously feels that Blunt shares some of the credit for his major triumph. The Award winner will get another chance to work with Blunt soon, since a sequel to Jungle Cruise is in the works. Fans will be hopeful that the success of the first film, which was hailed for its lighthearted comedy and wonderful chemistry between Johnson and Blunt, can be recreated in the sequel.

When accepting the prize, Johnson made a point to thank the people who came out to support the film’s premiere in the midst of a pandemic.

He told the audience, “We wanted to make a movie that honored the ride around the world, and the most important thing was to entertain you guys around the world.”

Overall, the PCAs are a big deal for Johnson this year. He was also awarded Male Movie Star of 2021, in addition to collecting the humor award.

For his achievements to the entertainment business, entrepreneurial ventures, and persistent devotion to aiding children and families in need via many charity initiatives, the actor will later receive the honorary People’s Champion award.
